As an XSR owner I strongly support purchasing one.

That being said, The newest generation looks a little funky to me.

Yeah, I've found that it can often take me a year or two to "adjust" when models change their looks. Still think the MT09 and MT10 headlight areas look weird (at best) but aftermarket is your friend when it comes to that!

Riding a 15 CVO Roadglide, love it. This is my 4th Harley. Had 3 Kawasaki’s as a kid, I like motorcycles, all of them !! If I ever won the lottery, there would be a barn full of bikes out my back door, and there would be at least one of your bikes in my fleet !!

Doing first valve check, changing plugs, and coolant change on the FJR this weekend. Valves checked and all are within spec. Fresh spark plugs installed and the ones that came out looked great for almost 32k miles on them. Coolant is drained but new stuff won't get here until Thursday. Need to put cam cover back on and button up that stuff but stopping for the night. Will continue tomorrow.

That's nice! I checked my F4i's @ 20k a couple years ago and 15 out of 16 needed to be brought back into spec. I was a nervous wreck until I got it put it back together and started it up!

FJR is almost famously low maintenance and very few need and shims changed until what many consider higher mileage. My 07 stayed within spec until after 100k miles. At 116k had to change 3 intake shims to bring into spec.

Nice chilly ride! Any tips for riding with a good crosswind? Some spots were pushing me around pretty good. Ride safe y’all!

For crosswind, I just try to stay relaxed and lean against it a bit or, if it's real strong, take the truck! Nice that you were able to get out though!

Here around NoVa, we've reached the time of year where riding is usually more trouble than it's worth, i.e. even if the weather cooperates, the state has laid down so much brine and gravel on the roads that it's just gross and/or sketchy. I am going to try my little super moto in some off road snow riding at some point. At least, that's what I'm telling myself... lol.

Heavy crosswinds suck. They can be downright brutal.

Don't tense up, stay relaxed and slightly loose on the controls. Watch your surroundings like trees and signs so you can anticipate coming into them. Be willing to pull over and take breaks.

I rode in some nasty crosswinds one time that actually started causing me leg cramps from hugging the fuel tank with me knees so hard.

I finally got out of my driveway! Got on the bike for the first time since the 22nd and zipped up and down the street just to make sure everything was good for tomorrow morning's commute. I'm 5 miles away from 44,000 miles on the F800GS. Going to have to try and think of a cool spot to go after work tomorrow for the 44K picture :D

I am conflicted. It would be nice to have an Adventure bike for commuting but the interstate to work is a death trap even in a car. It’s 25mins on the highway and 35 minutes on the back roads which the Honda Grom handles perfectly.

I’d say keep the Grom and take the backroads. I used to commute 22 miles to work but through downtown LA and towards the airport using 5 different freeways so that translated to about an hour to an hour and a half on a good day and 2.5 hours on holidays in the truck. I switched to commuting on the Sporty and was able to cut the commute time in half but it usually wasn’t an enjoyable ride. IMO, leisurely riding should be relaxing and a way for you to unwind and disconnect for a bit. Can’t really do that if you’re commuting through heavy traffic. Staying alert is one thing but if your internal alarm is ringing the whole time it just sucks sometimes.
