    Niiiice!! Looks so good!!

I prefer the shrink wrap mod personally, since the grey matches the MGM paint color better for me.

But regardless, buy these from @FreshMexicanTaco. They make amazing products!!!

Quick question for anyone here who ordered the new arms or mic mount. Did your orders get processed/shipped pretty quick? Or did something happen to AJ that I don’t know about? Hoping everything is alright.

my order came pretty quick. but there was a mixup in items... the mic mount was swapped for the new short arm... Gotta say the new arms are super nice looking and beat the hell outta the bulky ram mount arms as far as looks go.

waiting to hear back from AJ about the mixup, I am sure he will get to the PM sent, it is the holiday season so I am sure he is busier than usual

    Fair enough.

Also just an update on my end. Finally got the shipping notification, so that’s on the way. For some reason I thought I ordered three, but only ordered two, oh well, no big deal. I’ll just upgrade later, lol.

    All the things!
Thanks to the generous offer made by @FreshMexicanTaco, I've had the Taco Garage aluminum mounting arm for just under a month. Within that time, I've used the mounting arm daily, both on road and off road. I've been thoroughly impressed with it's aesthetics and function and plan to buy an additional arm for my other accessories. Below are some comparison notes and some of my experiences with aluminum arm versus the Ram arm.

    Form factor:
    20211206_130722.jpg

    20211206_130847.jpg

As you can see from the photo above, because the aluminum arm is made of a stronger material, @FreshMexicanTaco was able to make it considerably smaller. Being smaller, it has several benefits. The first benefit I noticed was the ability to mount the arm closer to the radio bezel. The Ram arm's large knob prohibited the arm from getting too close to the radio bezel. However, because the knob is smaller on the aluminum arm, I was able to get a lot closer. This results in my phone being lower on the mount and less obtrusive to my field of view. With the aluminum arm, I can keep my phone below the hood line of my truck, effectively removing any visual blockage.

    Functionality:
An additional benefit of the smaller and lighter form factor is a reduction in vibration and bounce. Before, with Ram mount, my phone would shake or bounce on the mounting arm, especially when off road. When driving, this would be pretty annoying, as the light from my phone or the sun reflecting off of the screen would be quite distracting, as it bounced and moved. With the new aluminum arm, there's effectively zero bounce or movement.

In all of my testing, both on road and off, the phone never fell off or moved on the mount. The aluminum arm also never lost it's position on the mounting ball. Even when trying to move it with my hand, it's not losing it's position on the ball. Note! You will find that this aluminum arm leaves marks on the mounting ball, so if you constantly move or adjust the mount, the ball may get a little chewed up. This will have no effect on functionality though.

    Looks:
    20211206_110734.jpg

Ok, I have to admit, I'm a sucker for machined parts. I think they're beautiful and this aluminum arm is no exception. The arm is very well made and works incredibly smoothly. Prior to mounting it in my truck, I spent most of my work day fiddling with it like a fidget spinner. The knob and screw are so well made that you can spin it effortlessly. The anodizing is great and it looks a thousand times better than the Ram mount. Even if there was no added functionality benefit, I'd still pick one of these up, just based on aesthetics.

    Overall:
I highly recommend these arms if you have the DMM. Even if you were foolish enough to pay too much for a competitors dash mounting system... I'd still recommend pairing this arm with your mount. And so you can see that I put my money where my mouth is...

    upload_2022-1-4_10-4-7.jpg

I've ordered another arm for mounting my Baofeng radio.

If you have any questions about this arm or would like additional photos or testing, let me know and I'd be happy to help.

    New arms look good.

Question..I just installed my old version a few weeks ago and notice my phone noticeably vibrates mounted with this setup. I came from a hondo garage mount and had no issues. Does anybody else notice this and if so, what did you do to reduce the vibration? I checked everything is tight.

are you using the same arm, and is the arm in the same orientation that it was with the hondo garage mount? i used something similar to a hondo garage mount for a while, and when I switched to the DMM, the way the arm was positioned moved. it was straight up and down with the vent mount, and is almost straight out towards me with the DMM. This resulted in a bit more vibration because the weight is vertically inline with the mount on the vent style mounting. extending the arm out like on the DMM causes the weight to pull on the arm like a lever. using the new smaller machined arms will help a lot, but as long as you have the weight out from the mount it will have some bounce to it.

I finally upgraded from an iPhone X to a 13 this week and the magnet holder (OG triangular shape) I had doesn't hold the slightly larger phone. Love the magnetic mount vs a cradle. Does anyone know if the Mighty Magnet will fit and hold it or if I should get the Mega Mighty Magnet. Thanks in advance!

I really like the magsafe multi-thread mount from Moment. I put a ball from Tacform onto the back of it so it will mount with the arm. You dont need to add any metal plates or anything to the phone, it uses the built in magsafe magnets. Check post 1239 for pictures of it.
