Baseball Card Collection Questions

I used to collect baseball stuff when I was younger. I was obsessed. I'm only 23 now but I have my collection, some of my dad's, and my uncle's. I could easily fill up my short bed once....maybe twice. Just boxes. I forget what they are called but the bricks of cards that they sold. I have lots of those. Some unopened. I think I even have random stuff like autographed portraits. Jim Edmonds is all I can think of offhand.

I want to see how much it's all worth. Maybe sell it. What's the best way of doing this? Do I or someone have to go over each card? What if there are valuable cards in there? Where would I take this stuff? Any help is appreciated.

 

I would get a Beckett and at least look at how much your complete sets (your bricks of cards) are worth. Also in the Beckett it will show you if there are chances of rare cards in there, in that case you may want to look through them because a rare card could easily get more then the set. Also there use to be a magazine called Tuff Stuff I believe and that is where you could find the value of autographs.

 

Thanks. I have folders too with the sleeves where the cards slide in. So a lot of cards are loose. I might have 10k-40k cards so I cant really go through each one.
But I can check the bricks and autographs for sure.

 

Also if you're not worried about giving away a really valuable card in your un-open sets and just getting some money for them. I would leave them sealed because if you do open them and dont find that high dollar card, you just dropped the price of that set big time. What years are all of your stuff from?
