Have you figured out your center of gravity or anything else? You have lots of research and calculating to do before you think about link length etc. if you want this to work right you need to spend lots of time learning about center of gravity, roll axis, squat, anti squat etc. If you go bomb mounts in and send it, it 100% is not going to work the way you want it to. You need to do weeks of research before you start asking any questions.

Go look at Tim Cameron's new rig Tyrant and even his last rigs his arms are super long. You probably in reality don't need to go that long.

The only real limit on link length is breakover angle, which is limited by driveshaft anyway.

That said, learn up on the geometry @906taco mentioned, then rough it out in the link calculator, and see what happens.

All that said, your front link mounts are probably around right, since they are really constrained by the existing body/frame/drive line. Also, remember you can re-set your pinion angle when you put the axle mounts on, so don't forget to check that and make sure you're not going to blow up u-joints at full droop.

You lose all credibility when you say stuff like that. I get where you’re coming from, but it’s still a place of small penis syndrome. Pirate is full of it. Experts like Jake Burkey gladly spend time to freely help people learn, so what does that tell you? Intellectual snobbism isn’t a sign of intellect. Believe it or not, it’s a good thing to share knowledge.

Tons left to learn. Right now I’m just staring at things and trying to picture it all working. I’m trying to find an ideal goal and work back from that given the space constraints. I’ve heard the most important was to keep links flat and long, so I wanted to start there and then find where I need to make sacrifices for everything else. Total big picture stuff right now. I won’t be burning anything in for a while.

Well, I'm done trying to help you with anything if you want to start calling me a snob. Why should anybody here sit and spoon feed you the info you will need to know on your own? Put in the research, understand how everything influences your setup, then ask questions. But good luck with your mentality. Nobody will be willing to hold your hand and spoon feed you.

It takes a lot of work to understand a subject like this and I get the pride associated with learning something difficult. I’ve had that pride before and it kept me from sharing with people what I had learned because I thought it would make me less special to others if they knew, too (snobbism). If it was difficult for me, by God it ought to be difficult for them, too! Not a great place to be!

To teach someone else and share that knowledge doesn’t subtract from its meaningfulness to you, but actually reinforces and amplifies it. We all gotta start somewhere. How boring if it were all easy and done correctly the first shot.

It has nothing to do with pride and everything to do with the fact we have zero idea what kind of expectations you have. Do you want it to handle decent at speed? Do you want it to handle well down the road or is it strictly a trailer queen? These are all things you need to know before you start dicking around because your setup will change drastically depending on what exactly you want.

In other news, one more bit from my trip this weekend of the front (and rear) end working splendidly.

Slow crawl, but decent at dirt roads under 35. Trailered but want to drive it maybe once every couple weeks on the road. Offroad is a priority though. That’s why I wanted to start with big picture questions, not specifics. Trying to figure out what specs need to take priority over the others. I see very few folks running links over four feet on similar wheelbases so I was curious what the downsides to longer links are outside of losing horizontal angle from the axle and maybe strength if it matters for this truck. I’m trying to find an ideal goal and work backwards from that.

When we were camping Friday night it was in the single digits and 15 mph wind. We got a hotel room the second night.

Running anything for heat in the tent? F all that noise. I'm getting weaker and weaker in the cold the older I get.

Amazingly the cold wasn't so much the issue, I was comfortable with all my cold-weather gear. It was the wind slapping the tent that kept me awake. And the next morning we were slated to get freezing rain so fuck that. I have a little buddy heater but only run it for a few min at a time because the tent becomes an oven.

Anyone in here have the LC200 rack? Need some info on installing one. Cant find much on web. Thinking for now to just grab the rack so JD gussets and double shear rods and the LP kit to run with 35's and call it a day for a while. Since a full LT setup not gonna be in the cards for atleast another year or 2. Our wedding expenses has gotten out of hand.... Why did i do this to myself lol.
