Well, going to either the tundra or LC rack you're going to modify your frame as well. At least with the JD setup you could always pull the slide rack and run the factory rack alone again.

yea i wasnt saying that was bad thing just noted haha. But that's a good point. Not sure why you'd do that though. Guess the reinforcements for the frame are just DIY at that point? Like nothing precut is sent with kit?

edit: I see that there is some precut parts in pic of kit

Neither the tundra or LC rack are bolt in. You have to put new slugs in the frame for either option.

The assumptions that there’s no instructions and the frame plates are DIY. Luckily JD puts out fully complete products with everything included

The slide rack comes with everything you need. It is not for the faint of heart and does take some level of fab knowledge to install.

Side note. I finally have a color picked out for the truck! Rolling with destroyer grey. Getting pretty excited for this build.

Oh i got you no i was looking at the kit online and didn't see anything else about installation on there. I was simply asking if that all came with kit. Upon a second glance i noticed there were frame plates in pic of kit. I edited my original comment.

I’ve seen a couple grey 2nd gens through the years. They look good. 3rd gen colors look better on 2nd gens - change my mind.

Does anyone have comments regarding the ride quality of the 2.25 kit over stock? For someone that just is a casual off roader/camper. I think I went too far into the rabbit hole without thinking what my actual needs are. Just curious if the extra 4k is worth it for someone that just goes out and has fun but might not necessarily “need” it. Already got inner fenders, pivots, slide rack, and gusseting stuff. I might be going overboard with some stuff but I like doing things only once and I feel pretty confident these products won’t fail me when we are camping/exploring.

If you have the cash, do it. The other option is a stock length UCA/LCA from Dirt King or Total Chaos, which is a little less money. You will see a major jump in ride quality ditching the stock arms, and you'll wish you had LT if you don't do it.

Yeah I figured that was going to be the answer. My bilsteins and ome coils I am not very happy with the way they ride. I have the stock uppers from jd fab. I might just use them until I can save up enough for the 2.25 kit so I can run the lowers fully forward.

Going from Bilstein/OME to King or Fox is half of it, going from shitty rubber bushings to real pivots is the other half. If you already have the JD upper going to a aftermarket LCA and King/Fox shock will be night and day.

Gotta factor in the cost of shocks and axles with that. I’ll be at 7k once I order a 2.25 kit, not including spindles, double sheer gussets etc.

Yeah I’m just comparing a stock king setup vs the 2.25 setup. I already have jd uppers. All I’d need is the coilovers and lca’s. vs the 2.25 kit and axles and coilovers. About 4k difference.
