Which truck do you think is better off road?

Which truck do you think is the better buy?

I haven't looked at the nubers, but I would think a XLT Tremor could be had for the same or maybe less than the Trail.

This site will be pretty biased. Same as going to a ford forum

The Ranger has, skid plates (does the Trail?) , Fox suspension, and General Grabbers. I'd vote the Ranger is "better" but I'd still rather a Tacoma for a number of reasons.

Both will be quite capable off road. Both at least have a locker.

Clearance and departure angles may make a difference. I haven't compared them.

I know eventually this thread will degrade into this. But this is one of the things I hate about automotive culture. I get were all a bit of a Toyota (or whatever brand) fanboy but I'd rather meaningful comparisons and discussions instead of "Ford [or any other brand] sucks" because your buddy Terry's truck had an oil leak in 1995.

We all have our preferences but the Ranger, overall, is a pretty good truck. Not many vehicles "suck" these days.

Go configure them both - I took a quick spin on the Ford site and the F150 version bumped up to $53,000 pretty quick,
I didn't even finish configuring so compare the both of them with the same/similar options and see for yourself.

OP put ZERO effort into the topic. Why should anyone put effort into their answer? Why should I do their research for them? Lol

With zero research and nubers, I prefer the look of the Tacoma, so Tacoma.

Also, how long are you planning on keeping it? That to me is the deciding factor between these two admittedly pretty similar vehicles.

Fords usually depreciate faster and go for less on the secondhand market (unless its something special like Raptors here in Utah) than Tacomas from what I've seen. Reliability also comes into play after a certain time/distance more often on domestic trucks.

ranger pros: Overall higher reliability on all parts except eco boost engine; skid plate; no tune needed from factory for power

tacoma pros: higher engine and 6AT longevity; less depreciation; looks

I don't know about down south, but up here a Tremor is only available on the Lariat model so minimum you are looking at 5K more than a Trail edition. You do get a lot more options and a more modern drivetrain for your 5K but you can't beat the Tacoma resale value and reliability. Probably pretty similar off road in stock form I would think.....

You may want to consider the Tacoma TRD off road 4x4 …has crawl controls, skid plates, rear lockers..
Proven to hold its value and dependable…

Ford ranger does offer better mileage ..make sure has a rear locker…
    Trail edition…just storage bins ..really?

kinda like a coke or Pepsi? But one is more popular…
    Aloha

No one told you to do any research. Ha. If you didn't like the subject and have no info to add there are tons of other threads you can look at. Sure OP could have added more info but who cares.

I gave OP the info that's already in my head when I was contemplating buying a Bronco, Ranger, or Tacoma.

I had only a vague idea what the Tacoma trail edition and ranger tremor were. A few minutes of research suggested that you should be comparing the tremor to the trd pro; not the trail.

Drove a Ranger for a week about two weeks ago now because my truck was in the body shop. The transmission was a huge upgrade over the Tacoma but the thing had zero power. I know people complain about that with the Tacoma but damn, it was horrible in the Ranger.

A few other minor things that I liked in one truck over the other, nice-to-have type things. But the two things I noticed immediately was the smooth shifting and lack of power on the Ranger.

Guy I work with has the Tremor, seems really nice. I didnt drive it but he says its pretty quick. He also has a coyote mustang And an ecoboost PI for comparison.if I had a spare 50 grand id buy one. Stock stereo is decent too.

The trail edition is a terrible trim package. I second that you should be considering the off-road or Pro trim if you are comparing against the tremor.

Edit: You kinda should know that by now, with all of the "this vs that" threads you have started

I would consider which I thought had the potential to last and service my needs for the duration I see myself owning the truck. As someone who came from a Ford with the 3.5 Ecoboost, the naturally aspirated Toyota engine was a no brainer in that regard.

    ok, I’ll play along;
How am I supposed to fully answer any of those questions with any amount of knowledge without research?
I do like the subject and was expecting to see some specs or vids or research by OP so I could form an answer of some sort.
OP should, if he actually wants a well informed answer. By doing the work for him, you encourage the behaviour.

Speaking of which, it’s funny how he’s now been exposed starting similar garbage threads.
