Oh man, it's night and day. First year up here in MT I had mud's. It was a shit show. Now I absolutley have to get snow tires. I still stick with three peak rated for my daily's but during winter I have snows. This is the first winter without dedicated snows in a while. Actually, just before I traded in my Subaru, I got studded and was pretty excited about them. Never even saw snow in them lol. Ended up trading it just before the snow hit, so I was kinda bummed. I hadn't planned on doing that but I just couldn't turn down the offer. Next winter I plan on getting snows mounted to the stock rims. Not sure if they will be studded or not though. If they offer studded in a decent size tire, then I will grab them. I'm not gonna run something too small on my lift w/ 5.29's.

But man, I agree. It seems you got your mind made up. Dont ignore me bro! lol. I kinda like you.

I agree.ha. Only when people just seem to get a bug up their ass for no reason, i just dont have patience for it.

I guess i always thought of dedicated snow tires were only for cars. I grew up in an area that would get like 2 feet of snow a night during winter, i drove a 2 wheel drive s10. Just never had an issue.

Anyways. Yeah, made up my mind, wheels and tires ordered tomorrow on my break.

Right here have almost 2 1/2 years dd to work , road trips , wheeling. Rotated every 5k miles psi around or at 35 psi . 285/75/16 . First 2 years road noise wasn't a issue, but last six months or so it's pretty noisy in the cab. Haven't checked the tread depth in a long time . I was snow wheeling not long ago and had them down to 14psi and they were performing great still . I have my truck tuned so in the rain I have to be a bit ginger on the throttle . When they were brand new not a issue in the rain. Ummm any other questions just ask . FYI never a flat either .

And one more I have had two sets of the sst pros and they are a great tire chew in the mud and dirt . Did good for me in the rain. If the km3's I got didn't perform as well or better than the stt pros , I would have got another set of the coopers . I must be getting older now cause my next set I wanna get the new ko2's 295/75/16 white walls out

16" rims I'm that guy that likes more rubber than rim . So my choice of good tires is a lot slimmer than if I had 17" wheels

Just to add to what @Montana_Actual was saying and something else to maybe consider; dedicated winters do make a difference off the road as well. I run K02s for 3 seasons then put the winter Generals on and it makes a noticeable difference. Aired down on snow/ice trails, these things will grip where AT/MT pack up and start to slide/spin.
Plus, in the long run, you’ll be burning out rubber less frequently running two sets. Initial cost may be more, but the rubber will last longer. Just some other things to think about. Try a dedicated set of winters and you’ll be hooked when you’re able to rip down a snowy gravel road and feel more confident controlling the truck[or any vehicle]. They may not look aggressive or ‘cool’, but they are the best winter mod, by far.

Yea. Buy one set and it's like a drug addiction. I also gave up caring what they looked like during winter. I got a set of the cheapest easiest to clean rims last time, slapped some snows on them, and it was the best decision I made in a long time - aside from the divorce

Totally agree. Especially with AWD and 4WD vehicles. It’s like a winter cheat code.

I'd rather drive on stock dunlops than STT's on packed snow or ice

Duratracs are the king of hybrid tires, jack of all trades, master of none. You can even stud them. I'd easily recommend them over any other offroad tire if you want winter and mud performance.

Like others have stated, STT Pro's blow on snow/ice (like most M/T's). I run Falken AT3W's on my GX most of the year and Blizzaks during the winter. I have STT Pro's on my Taco and refuse to drive it when it snows (it's downright dangerous). If you are looking for tires that provide good winter traction (not just snow), I think that you could add options that are superior to the Coopers (i.e. the AT3W's are an A/T, but much better in winter conditions).

I've got no complaints with my A/T Duratracs in the winter. So much so, that I sold off my winter tire package that came with the truck. 3 peak snow designation, and now I don't have to switch over twice a year, I just do a tire rotation once a year.

Works for me. I throw it in 4hi in a storm, and I'm good. No weight in the back or nothing.

I live in an area where we get plenty of snow. The Wrangler Ultraterrain AT. It was recommended locally for winter snow conditions. I can verify that it is much better than my KO2's. It also has mud terrain outer lugs and tighter AT spacing on the inside. And they are quiet. might want to look into them
