Just added a KLR to the garage. The VFR is RED with envy. ;-)

Only 90 days until the roads are two wheel passable. .......
Winter snow, freezing rain (like today), then mud season.

Exactly the reason why I ride on my time off. I like it being a disconnect from all. :bikewheelie2:

First decent weekend of no rain in 3 months and all the snow from last week finally melted off so I was able to get a quick cruise around the lake in yesterday at the balmy temp of 45*.

I'm still dealing with a vibration that showed up after I dropped my bike the end of last summer though and I'm not positive what it is. When I dropped it, it landed on and snapped the shift lever so I suspect it is either something with the clutch or the transmission. I have had the clutch slip on me a couple times when I get on it at the right speed so that is suspect. I also have an issue with the transmission not fully engaging the next gear sometimes even with a solid input to the shifter, usually between 2 and 3 but it has happened at higher gears too.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether they think it might just be the clutch or if it sounds like it may require the case to be cracked and the transmission looked at? At this point I am thinking I may just order the parts to re-do the clutch and hope that solves it because I really don't want to drop the engine again and do a full tear down when I was hoping sell the bike this year and upgrade anyway.

I just picked up a used set of BajaDesigns S1 amber pods to mount on my Rally for aux lighting. Does anyone have any experience with a set of fork mounts they might recommend?

They are- I was looking at them for the same reason. I have a single S2 mounted under my headlight and it provides enough light for my needs but it would be nice to be able to spread the aim if necessary.

Can you mod the reflector mounts you probably took off and threw in a box on day 1 (if you’re like me)?

I'll have to look into that, not something I had considered. The thought behind the fork mount was to get them lower and away from the turn signals for visibility. Kind of like the bigger adv bikes.

Welp I'm running into a issue rebuilding my rm250. When I got it back it was missing the whole exhaust. I can find the muffler online new for about 160$. Can't find the header anywhere. Only one I found is in the United Kingdom and for a cool 700$ not including shipping. And they are on Back order everywhere. Nothing on ebay either. I'm gonna continue to search for this everyday till I find a used one on ebay.

I feel like this may be two separate issues? Clutch slipping sounds like an adjustment or replacement to me. Shifting issue seems separate, in my very humble opinion. When was the last time you changed your oil? On the F800 the shifting tends to get notch-y after about 2,000 miles on the oil and my 5-6 shift and finding neutral start to require more finesse.

Bike has 10k miles and I'm the 3rd owner and presumably 3rd person learning to ride on it so I wouldn't be surprised if the clutch is done for. I replaced the oil when I replaced the head gasket last winter which would put it right around the 2k mark. I figure if I'm going to do the clutch I might as well change the oil at the same time rather than play the game of laying the bike on it's side to keep the oil in and then hope between new oil and the clutch my vibes will magically disappear :annoyed:

Cheap thing to check versus a complete rebuild, too.

When and where does the vibration occur? Is in felt in the handlebars or the whole bike? Is it at a certain rpm or speed? Is it constant or intermittent?

Have you ruled out minor adjustments like the clutch lever play and chain tension?
