    That's right, it covers that area doesn't it. I just wasn't planning on purchasing it until summer when the next oil change will be. That's my only concern. I think it'll be fine until then... I've been wrong once before though ;) lol

    The Pro skid plate has an opening to get at the Fumoto without removing the skid plate. The Pro skid plate also has an accessible plate that removes with four hex bolts that will provide you access to the new spin on filter without having to remove the skid plate.

    lol it really isn't that hard to change the oil with the cartridge style filter. Filter media is also the same and a fraction of the cost of a spin on. I did however replace the plastic filter hosing with an OEM metal one.

    What year did Toyota changed the filter location? On my 07 it's on top of the engine... with the addition of a permanent drain hose attached under the filter it couldn't be easier.

    It's not a bad setup, I agree. This is just a "why not" kinda thing. The relocation is very nice though. No mess at all.

    Which brings me to why I'm writing this...

    I can't get it out of my head. I think I'm gonna get the relocation kit and sell the spin on one.

    Out of curiosity, has anyone tested oil pressure with these setups compared to stock? If not, I'll see if I can get that done and post results.

    TRD skid plate is on the way. I'm weird... I can't wait to change the oil again lol. This is going to make life so much easier for me, especially during those winter changes.

    Large size zip lock bag on my 2nd gen does the job.


    This Baxter adapter is neat idea until I looked at company website what the prices were $260+ LOL. Needs to be more reasonable priced $50?

    Of all the vehicles i've owned this one is by far the messiest oil change. the oil drain plug is vertical, the fluid is like water and splashes out like momma june's water broke, the little plastic hose clip/catheter combo always has some pre leak dribbling down, if you don't get it clipped in right immediately, you'll get hot oil down your glove. and then theres a few more ha ha drips when you unscrew the actual housing...

    then the dealer forgets to add the canister o-ring or over-tightens the fragile plastic housing and it cracks, plus strips the bolts on your skid plate installing with a pneumatic impact wrench …… I think I will purchase this Baxter adapter.

    I have that adapter plus the relocation mount and all is working as designed. I’d imagine whom ever might have a problem with any Baxter product will be the result of something they did or didn’t do during the installation. They are well manufactured.

    Why do people swap out the factory filter for a “real” spin on filter?

    Seems like just as much work to change either. Arguably worse with the spin on because you can’t pre-drain the filter.

    I’d also assume filter cost can’t be that much different either.
