More autism-related mask issues, though not on my part; There's this girl named Anna, who I met in November 2021 and who I have a crush on, who I've been hanging out with. She is on the spectrum, she works two jobs, and she's she in college (she's 23); Both of her employers require masks for employees, but at least one doesn't require customers to wear one, which beyond frustrates her. At least one employer also lets her remove her mask when customers aren't in the store, but makes her put it back on when even one customer comes in...

    :annoyed:

She has worse sensory issues than me, and absolutely refuses to wear a mask if she doesn't have too; I cannot tell you happy I am that my employer no longer requires masks if you are vaccinated. My friend is vaccinated, and like my other Aspie friend Doug, has the attitude of "Why the hell do I have to wear a mask if I'm vaccinated?"

I personally would choose to if I worked around people, but keyword is choice. I don't think it's up to me to expect others to do so

It should all be personal choice; In high-risk places like hospitals I totally understand, but I don't like wearing them in places like Home Depot or some random restaurant...

I agree but unfortunately the way the world is today the minority that complain get their way because it’s easier to give into people than to explain to the butt hurt folks why they can’t have their way.

We live in a great technologically advanced world now where people don’t even need to leave their house to get what they need. Can buy everything online and they deliver damn near everything, so if that person is not agreeing with the no mask deal, stay home and shop online.

My attractive 40-year old blonde neighbor went "Full Karen" on an Urgent Care employee the other day, and that employee deserved it! Why?

Over 2 weeks ago, this neighbor's 67-year old mother got sick, but refused to go to the hospital; She is fully vaccinated, and the neighbor's mother-in-law who happens to be a nurse later said that she would have died if she didn't have the vaccine. So, the mother-in-law talked the mom into going to Urgent Care.

This particular Urgent Care defied all logic, as it wasn't letting anybody in who couldn't produce a recent negative COVID test, requiring them to take their rapid test in order to get in, and then making them wait outside the door until their doctor came out to speak with them 15-20 minutes later; That third part is what really defied logic...

It was in the 20s outside, and my neighbor's little Buick crossover was just steps away; You'd think since it was in the 20s, they'd let people sit in their cars with the heat on...

NOPE! You gotta stand outside the door and wait for us; No ifs, ands, or buts...

As stated above, my neighbor gave the Urgent Care staffer a well-deserved profanity-laced chewing out!

My neighbor's mom did get in, and they determined that she has pneumonia; While they didn't test her for COVID, they are pretty sure she had it.

I came into this little debacle shortly before 8:40 this morning, when the aforementioned neighbor called me frantic needing someone to let the dog out, walk him, and possibly feed him (Clover, the English Cream Retriever who Porter regularly plays with); These same neighbors have let me drink their beer, eat their food, help myself to their firewood stash, and use their snowblower. Husband and wife both work, all three kids are in school, and grandma is laid up in her basement apartment too sick to get out of bed...

You really think I'm gonna say no?!?!

But the people at Urgent Care are a bunch of douchebags; You don't make someone in their late 60s wait outside in the freezing cold!

I'm just sick of all this shit! One of my best friends with Aspergers is Jewish; He is also fully vaccinated and has the same attitude as me of "I'm fully vaccinated, so why do I have to wear a mask?" He hasn't been to synagogue in months because an usher wouldn't let him into the temple without a mask and an argument inevitably started.

I found out what happened to Doug's dad's 2013 RAV4; The timing chain either slipped off or totally snapped (I forget which), the valves inevitably bent, and the engine had absolutely no compression. The RAV is less than 10 years old, has relatively low miles, and is paid off, so it was deemed more cost effective to put a lower mileage engine out of a totaled RAV4 in it than to buy a new vehicle or make any attempts to repair the cooked engine. My mechanic Pete, who looked at the engine after Thompson Toyota quoted them $10K to replace it, gave me the rundown on what killed the RAV4 at less than 120K miles; He also said that irregular oil changes are among the things that can lead to premature timing chain failure.

This makes no sense, because Doug's dad takes care of his vehicles; Prior to the 2013 RAV4 and the 2011 Altima, there was a 2003 Toyota Highlander Limited 4WD. The Highlander had insanely high miles when it was gifted to Doug in 2011, and it would probably still be on the road today if Doug hadn't totaled it in the summer of 2013; The Highlander had something like 185K miles on it when Doug totaled it in 2013, and it ran great, though it was in need of an A/C recharge. Doug made the appointment to get the A/C charged, but totaled it before he could bring it in; Doug's dad decided he missed being in an SUV, so he gave the 2011 Altima to Doug and bought the 2013 RAV4 that just had its engine replaced. The Altima has something like 130K miles and is still going strong!

I thought that were not allowed to talk about covid at all on here. In not complaining just confused a little on what the rule actually is.

This isn't about COVID; It's about dealing with COVID as someone with autism. My neighbor handled it in a much friendlier manner than I would have if the Urgent Care expected me to wait outside in the cold instead of my warm truck!

Feels more like it’s your opinion of the rules and weather or not you agree with them. She could have gone home and come back more prepared or not gone at all if she didn’t like it. We all have to deal with this crap not just you man and you complain about it all the time. Either don’t go to the places that have rules you don’t like or follow them and stop complaining. You complain about it when someone gets upset that you are driving and talking on your phone and they are an asshole or a Karen. You complain where someone won’t let you in there bakery to take a shit because you don’t feel like having a mask even though it’s posted right on the door that you can’t come in without one and they are assholes. I know you have Asperger’s which is a high functioning form of autism I’ve been told but that doesn’t give you or anyone else the right to scream and curse at people just trying to do there job when they aren’t even the ones who make the damn rules. If you can identify other peoples bad behavior then guess what you can also identify your own. Just something to think about chuck.

The Karen in the SUV should have minded her own damn business; My truck was DYING due to a failing alternator and I was afraid I wasn't going get it home. I don't confront perfect strangers unless what they are doing directly puts me in danger.

In June 2020, at Mission BBQ, I almost clobbered a guy who decided to get in my face and confront me about not wearing my mask properly; He was given two firm warnings to mind his own business, and luckily the restaurant manager stepped in between us, and took my side.

Like everyone else in the world, I am beyond fed up with this seemingly never-ending pandemic, and I am not using Aspergers as an excuse; It seriously exacerbates my emotions, and my friend Jeff who also has Aspergers (and is a self-made millionaire with his own business) says that the two emotions most commonly felt by people on the spectrum are anger and frustration.

You should know that I begrudgingly comply with mask orders in places like the dentist and the doctor's office; I also wear a mask into the grocery store, and into various restaurants when doing DoorDash, primarily to humor my mom.

When wearing a mask for long periods of time, my glasses start to fog up and if I wear a mask without an exhalation valve I feel like I'm having trouble breathing. Some people, like my neighbor who is an RN, can wear masks for hours at a time; I can't, and require frequent "mask breaks"...

Also, I like you, but you don't know me that well and this post of yours comes across as a bit aggressive.

Also, consider this; Yes, I will agree with you that sometimes I merely complain, and to quite honest I hate using the fact that I'm on the autism spectrum as an excuse, but sometimes it really is the best and occasionally only way...

    Example; May 2017...

I got my driver's license in May 2011; My parents extensively went over with me what to do if I ever got stopped by the police. Nearly six years elapsed between the day I got my license and the very first time I got pulled over since getting my license, and if you combine the fact that I legitimately had no idea what I'd done wrong and the fact that my new $250 stereo wasn't working properly, it's a recipe for disaster...

I was doing 43 MPH in a notorious speed trap with a speed limit of 25 MPH. It was about midnight on a Wednesday night (technically Thursday morning) and there was nobody on the road; A cop came out of nowhere and I pulled over to let him by thinking he was just responding to a call, but I flipped when he pulled in behind me and stopped.

I was an asshole to that cop, mainly because I didn't realize I was speeding and thought I was being harassed for "suspicion of DUI", and I suffered for it; Looking back on it, I probably could have gotten off with a warning if I'd been nicer...

The cop was so pissed off that he started going over my truck looking for anything else he could write me up for, but my truck was inspected through October 2017, the registration was up to date, and the insurance was up to date. I ended up getting a $180 ticket for the full amount I'd been speeding.

This would have resulted in 4 points on my license, but I have a friend who's a good lawyer and I ended up retaining him so I didn't have to face the judge or the cop alone. No doubt he told the cop about my Aspergers, among other things...

I apologized to the cop outside the door to the district court and shook hands with him; The ticket was reduced to 5 MPH over and I didn't get any points.

The lessons learned from that incident were to (A) monitor my speed at all times, and (B) never show even the slightest amount of displeasure to a police officer!

And also, again, it may seem like I'm complaining, but there are five of us Aspies in my circle of friends including me; All of us come from really good families, all of us have driver's licenses and our own vehicles, and all but one of us has a steady job.

Another friend of mine with autism who I just met works two jobs and goes to college (she's only 23), but does not drive yet; She has the most serious sensory issues I've ever seen and is on the verge of panic attack when wearing a mask. She refuses to wear an N95 mask because the freak her out.

Rules are rules, some are meant to be broken. Consequences are paid regardless of who you are or what you think. Some consequences are worse than others, play stupid games and win stupid prizes I always said. The only way the frustration that's going on with the world right now can be avoided is if you are dead, I think everyone is sick of this crap but it's not changing anytime soon, and only seems to be getting worse. Complaining gets you nothing but headaches and further frustration. Take up karate or yoga maybe.
