I’d reconsider this, one fender bender and your dogs dead.

    Non-canine long-nosed quadrapeds allowed?

Pulled the rear 60% seat cushion and replaced it with a box- keeps her happy and almost contained. Seat-belt extension to her harness.

You should consider changing the thread title. Many of us use the cab, not the bed to haul our furry family members.

She always manages to make shotgun when the wife isn’t with me.

Need to get her a harness to keep her in the back seat, she LOVES going for a ride. If you say the word RIDE in her presence, she runs to the door and whines. Open the door and she runs straight to my truck.

This is an old pic, doesn’t fit in that harness anymore and it was no good for car rides (front clip style)

No dog here, just a cat. He goes on road trips with us... took him to the ocean not long ago, just had him wander around in the cab of the truck during the drive. He usually just naps on my wife's lap. Small litter box in the back seat + waterproof seat covers just in case = good to go. Never had an incident.

I've had a few set-ups like that and those unfortunately do not protect the doors. The bucket style which extend up to the windows provide some more protection.

My little guy rides shotgun. I just wrap a blanket around the seat and it catches most of the hair, but doesn't stay up for long trips. Planning on picking up seat covers at some point, wetsuit type materials are easy cleanup as the hairs can't get between the fibers and stick.20201118_131755.jpg

Dog hammock works very well for me. Got off Amazon I think for around $30 or so. Wet Okole seat covers make it easy to vacuum out if needed too.
