oh yeah. my enduro bike struggles up puke hill. and mys hort travel just zips right up. it's very interesting to see the difference. I can't imagine a hardtail doing that. let alone a gravel bike. I could probably crush it on a gravel bike. but then I'd have to do the downhill on it and that's a little bit of a terrifying prospect.

um....100% in. I cant get the registration to work though? it looks liek they haven't set up the 2022 one yet? I have a group of riders who are also totally in for going. would be a riot!

It's 100% a riot. Registration usually doesn't open until march, but when it does, I'm signing up. Got a spot at Ward Mountain campground last time and it was nice since we could preride the trails the day before from camp.

when I travel, I prefer to spend at least a few days in the places I'm visiting. I like get a decent for a place, and I personally can't do that with only one day. So my advice would be to pick a spot or two and spend a few days at each.

One of the last times I did Crest, there was a dude doing the millcreek section on a gravel bike. That windy stretch through the trees right before Big Water, I swear he broke the sound barrier and was making us all look like clowns passing us like 5 at a time.

HAHAH. that section wouldn't be too bad on a gravel rig. Mostly because it kinda sucks on a full suspension enduro bike.

I hear ya! I tend to prefer to just book it to a destination, set up a basecamp, and then get to know that area really well.

To be honest, Bend and McCall don't really have great gravity oriented riding if that's what you're stoked about. Those areas are much more XC oriented .

I like it all. But when places like Big White, Revelstoke, and Whistler get so talked up, its hard not to want to go see for yourself. if nothing else, to take a breather, since non-park BC climbs aren't usually gentle so I hear.

I have a separate trip I'm planning to the Bend area to ride, just gotta figure when/how to pull all this off and not get fired

I need more vacation time, I'd love to, but a few days trip to ride bicycles is probably off the table since now I've got to line my vacation up with the wives too.

If it's not within driving distance it's tough, now If we take a week long family trip out there and I say I want a morning or two by myself where I wake up early that may be something.
We did go to Co Springs last year and I didn't get to bring my bike. No idea how close we were to good trails, but I was kinda sad and never even looked up trailforks while out there.

kinda interested in how many wives you got too... lol

but chances are there were quite a few trails wherever you were in springs.

i get more time off than my gf, hopefully she can negotiate more when she renews her contract later this year. but that means i gotta figure out a week trip which will most likely be a combo of riding and fishing

Let me start off by saying proofreading is important. lol

I get more time off than my gf as well, as much vacationing as we done last year her place of work allowed her to be off, but she didn't get a pay check one of those weeks so cool, but not so much.

All the places we went, CO Springs for a week, Gatlinburg for a week, and Hawaii for 2 weeks, and not a single bike was ridden during those times, if it wasn't easy driving distance I didn't ride last year.

If you're making the haul all the way to BC, my vote would be to get there and enjoy those areas that are less accessible on a normal basis. You can always do a long weekend type trip to places like Boise, Bend, etc.

God bless your soul visiting Gatlinburg. It's like Myrtle Beach but in the mountains

Only if they're okay knowing about each other!

Also, Gatlinburg is fine if you don't actually go into downtown. We mostly hiked every day.
This year for the family thanksgiving I think they're looking into something like North GA, or a week in Asheville was mentioned as some are wanting to tour the Biltmore.
