So I've got 215k on my base model 4x4 4 cylinder. It's still got factory suspension.

Locally, a guy is selling some 3rd gen TRD off road coils, shocks, struts, and springs, both leaf and coil for $200. Needs strut hats.

They have 45-50k on them. I know they're used and they probably have half of their life remaining, but does that sound like a reasonable enough price?

Depends on what's available when you need it. I've seen and sold 3rd Gen suspension with around 1000 miles for around $250.

Don’t think they are worth that much with 50k miles on them.

The shocks (there are no struts on a Tacoma) have too many miles on them at that price, for me anyway. I'd suspect they were closer to being done around 60k.

Although being local and no shipping makes a bit tempting.

I sold my 2019 3rd Gen suspension for $100 with 19000 miles on it, otherwise, I would have done some welding projects with it.

IMO that price is too high. Specifically because of the fairly high miles and lack of top hats. Every region is a bit different but a year ago I was able to get TRD OR front coilovers, UCA's and leaf springs for $150 and they only had 15k miles. That price was about avg for my region, give or take $50. I often see people trying to sell for more, but I also never see their ads go away so I don't think anyone is biting at that high of a price.

Considering that 5100's are the bare minimum to upgrade suspension and height on a Tacoma
stock parts are not silver/blue nor as thick body of a shock

and even cheap 5100's are not that good

I'd say you're on a fools errand and wasting time + money.
If that guy has any common sense he'll throw them out because their market value is $0

Seems like a lot of man hours of manual labor you'd be undertaking to convert your suspension from Shitty to Shitty.
Stock suspensions tend to bounce up and lose traction over cracks in the road at low speed, at least when worn. 4600 (non liftable) or 5100 (liftable) would resolve that for not much more money, comes with warranty, and can be resold later.

That is not a good deal by any means. There are 0-250 mile take offs for sale on here all the time at or around $300.00 or less, and with hats to boot. Pass on that, be patient and you’ll find the leafs included too, most likely included at said price. ask me how I know:thumbsup:
The turd gen sport shocks will give you a firmer/sportier ride (what I have, love ‘em, don’t off road much, all street driving)
Off road shocks speak for themselves. Both will give you an inch lift in the front. If you go with the sport shocks you’ll need a 1/4 spacer on the driver side to compensate for taco lean, they’re cheap, and well worth it. Can’t speak to the off road shocks, I’m sure someone can speak to them (if taco lean compensation is needed).

I would bet that the rear leaf springs are already flat with that much mileage. The only thing of any value IMHO is the front coils.

Spend a little more and put some 5100's in your truck. You'll appreciate the improvement in performance they provide

or, he can even skip that
And realize that 5100 will ride like shit even on a service road
And that better is 5160/6100 + hangers + leafpack
