I used to live in Neenah a few years ago before the wife and I moved to Green Bay. We lived on Doty Island, a great place if you have a boat/kayak or like to fish! We are currently looking to get a bigger house as we will be having a little one come March.

Thank you! It was quite the surprise as we have tried for about 3 years with no luck. Wasn't expecting to have to put a car seat in the back of the Tacoma, but it's a welcomed change for sure!

Dumb question for the week, but you get a story first.

Last summer I endeavored to drive from Ashland (where i live) to Hayward (where I get my glasses fixed) by as much dirt as possible. I know most of the FS roads well until county OO from Seeley-southward I don't know much. I did not have a map. This was just fun ramble in the woods with a hope of getting lost. I made it to OO with maybe 5 miles of pavement, but once across I started to run into roads veering right and spitting me out on Hwy 63. Eventually, after several tries, it came down to one intersection where I needed to go left but it was an atv/utv type trail. So, here is the questions: can I drive on a marked aty/utv trail? The trail in this case did not have an obvious sign with a crossed out truck. It was close to wide enough (my 2nd gen isn't much wider than a side by side...) Could I have gone off in bliss on that trail? Why or why not (obviously I do not own one of those machines and therefore don't have a clue about Wisconsin law/rules governing them.) If it is legal is there some unspoken etiquette that I need to know?

To finish off the story. I instead followed a faint two track (logging trail) the direction I needed. This led to several dead ends, lots of mud holes and a gate. The gate was miraculously unlocked which after a few more missteps led me down to a dirt road that took me all the way to Hwy77. 10 more miles of pavement got me to Hayward. Fun puzzle, but wondering about that trail. Yes, I do stupid shit like this all the time...

Cool. Love our local track and watching roundy rounds on dirt. My brother built chassis and motors for NW super sports and ASA drivers up in Washington state as I was growing up. Spent a lot of time at tracks but they were always paved. When we moved to Wisconsin, discovered the dirt track was just around the corner, so discovered dirt!

I don't know if you've ever given short course off-road racing a shot or not but I highly recommend it. Crandon is considered the Daytona 500 of short course off-road but I also really like Antigos race track that they recently reopened and bark Rivers track isn't too bad and ERX in elk River Minnesota is a fantastic track as well. Only one I don't like all that much is Lena Wisconsin but still worth checking out.

Ooooh hang on to the truck! I had a standard cab... it had to go according to my wife. Ended up with a 4runner that some meth head wanted more and had to settle for a Sienna. Took 14 years to get that truck back. Mind you it was worth it but man... 14 years. Oh and congratulations!

Thank you! Luckily for me, I have the DCSB. Still a tight fit, but I WILL make it work. Thankfully the wife knows how much I love this truck and hasn't said anything about getting rid of it.

    Congratulations on the incoming kiddo!!

It's impossible to say without a map. There are marked ATV routes that are also legal roads. But, there are also ATV/UTV trails that are only that.

An APP like GAIA or ONXoff-road will help a ton, but you will want to download the areas you'll be travelling in case you run into no reception. The MVUM maps are also good for this, but only cover certain areas.

I think we're pretty lucky to live in a moderate climate, honestly. The heat they get in California sounds downright miserable. And, the cold in the north, screw that! And, deserts where it's hot as hell all day and freezing at night - no thank you!

I just prefer sweating to freezing.

    But, everybody's different.

This forum would be boring AF if we all had the same opinion about everything. :)

At least we all use different shocks, wheels, tires, etc. It's kinda like Mr Potato-truck.
