Its a combination of ice fishing, and having a basement that used to flood alot... But, if you build a nice rink with snow piles on the edges, then drill a hole and flood it you get some smooth glass to skate on.

I didn’t get to play hockey in my youth, but we started a new pond hockey tradition up at the cabin over New Year’s Eve weekend recently. A few years ago it was around -10F and we played 3-4 hours. Fun fun. It’s amazing how warm you can be when you are moving.

When I grew up in Minnesota, hockey was the only sport where you have to pay for all your own equipment and arena ice time. I played baseball, basketball, and football for almost free.

I grew up ski racing, we had to pay for everything too. SOooooo expensive, then every practice you had to buy a lift ticket or get a season pass.

I learned to skate on figure skates. Not really sure why, but I hated those toe picks.

You laugh, but after closing on my house I found a whole "flooded basement" kit under the stairs... big fans, shop vac, and a water pump. I should of seen that as a red flag, but I already signed the papers.

Many states require that condition to be reported if applicable on the MLS documentation. If you used a licensed RE agent he/she should've picked that up. So, depending on MN law you may have recourse.

OTOH, if a good amount of time has passed & you're otherwise happy with your home, it's not the biggest headache you could have. A good sump could mitigate/minimalize flooding.

They stated that the basement had flooded in the past, and the floors and sheet rock was replaced. What they didnt say was that the basement was flooding because their sump pump was piped into the basin sink and the egress window pits were below grade on a hill (they were covered in snow when we got the house). So it flooded a few more times as I fixed each of their fuck ups.

My sister’s barn cat used to catch garder snakes that creeped into the basement. He slept in my bedroom because I guess I was easier to deal with. Left me with some tape worms one morning day.

I've used the defrost mode on high but not really any difference i could tell. Aren't you thinking of the button on the dash for the deicing for the side mirrors?

In 2000 we did a saddle bag trip with our sleds on the northern loop in quebec, the highest temp, we saw all week was -30. Every morning we started out in -40 temps. Never snowed the entire 1800 mile ride.

No sir, it’s the stand alone defrost button. It definitely works way quicker than using engine heat.

Not the best pic but it’s right up in there. It only defrosts the front and side windows.

Ooooh yeah. 2dr shitbox, sooo much cooler than the pedestrian 4dr shitbox lol.
I grew up with these things all over the place, and have many memories driving/wrenching on/having fun in them. We always got home.

I'm almost positive all V6 Models have the PTC unless it's only for TRD and above Models. You should be able to check the fuse box to see if you have PTC filled as these trucks blow warm pretty quickly.
