Hello fam! This is for those who are currently serving in the US Army and want some information on the Senior Promotion List and how they are picking OML numbers.

So I just went to 13B40 Senior Leaders Course (SLC) in Dec. My OML number is 81. A buddy of mine who was in the course as well is OML number 80. He made the promotion list in Dec and already pinned SFC. The January list came out and he appeared on it again. Thinking that this was an error ( it was ) and that I missed this month cause of an error ( I didn't ) I wrote HRC. This was their answer and some good info on how they are picking up due to the new changes and MILPER messages. I asked HRC why the OML number keeps going back and forth and this is what they said. I hope this clears any confusion within your ranks on this topic.

The attached example has changed some because of temporary promotions but the concept is still valid.

Currently Soldiers with and without PME would be considered qualified, and Soldiers flagged and not meeting TIG/TIS requirements would be listed as not qualified.

Every month the qualified and not qualified changes with Soldiers being flagged, flags being lifted, meeting TIS and/or meeting TIG.

Therefore, months with higher promotion requirements would reach higher OML numbers. The following month could have more or less or even no promotion requirement and with the constant changes with the qualified/not qualified the OML fluctuates.

In December for 13B we promoted ten which took us to OML 80.

In January, after qualified/not qualified has changed, we only promoted 4 which took us through OML 14. All four Soldiers became eligible to pin in January as they met their TIG of four years with a SSG DOR of 20180101. This is why they were not promoted earlier and with only four promotions for January the fourth Soldier had an OML of 14.

Previously we did not post through OML numbers because of the confusion it would cause but the SMA wanted us to provide more transparency by posting the OML.
