Now that means you need a heavy duty bumper upfront! lol

It's tricky wheeling in the winter because anything remotely nearby is shut down, mainly Uwharrie and Potts. AOAA and Rausch are open but just far as hell.

Yeah that's kinda what I'm finding. Living in MD, AOAA wasn't a bad trip, but from here 5 hours in the car to then drive around in the car is kind of a hike

It's fun when paired with at least one night of camping but no way I can day trip something that far.

I'm pretty much unable to wheel much of this winter at this point due to my wife's work schedule, so I'm just gonna use this time to tweak little stuff on the truck I guess. Maybe I'll build betty a new front bumper or something. :bananadead: soonest I'll be able to get out would be mid march but everything is closed, so it'll likely be an april potts or URE trip once it opens.

I have gained 10-20hrs back per week by non having marching band in the winter/spring, so I'm also going to try to get back on some projects too. I want to make a skid to cover the tcase area, flip my driveshaft to prevent it from molesting my fuel tank, do something with my air situation, and some other things.

What's up with Betty's front bumper? Didn't you just make that in the recent year or two?

Let me know if you're looking for someone to tag along for those spring trips

I'm just not 100% on the front bumper since it was my first tube project. I think I would like a plate bumper instead. And absolutely, I'll let you know. Once you're all armored up, you'll love these trails.

its a weboost, its to boost cell phone service, when theres little service. its great when youre ontop of the mountains, but when youre in the valleys there is no service to boost. In my opinion the best thing to have is a Sat phone or Garmin Inreach or something similar.

That’s looks completely awful. I don’t even slide that well on my Walmart snowboard.

@MyNoVANeighborsHateMe Im glad you asked because I saw about 10k of them down south and was about to ask him.

@nguyenpatrickt does it work well enough to have a hotspot/stream videos in spots you other wise wouldn’t be able to or is it just enough to get a text out where there is other wise no signal?

Dude, we got the home variety of the WeBoost, since we could make calls via cell phones just fine, but didn't have enough of a signal for data...it helped, but doesn't replace having dedicated home wifi, and can be hit or miss.

Now the mobile boosters...I know my company runs a team of mobile gooseneck trailers that go out in remote areas for service work...the antennas tend to work well enough for them to connect to the internet to upload reports and work within web linked or web based systems for data input, etc.

But like Patrick mentioned, no signal = no ability to boost. With our house, I ended up mounting the yagi external antenna on the highest side of the house oriented closest the nearest cell tower/strongest signal reported via a cell signal app.

I also put another antenna there for our home wifi reception.

Hey guys, it’s been awhile since ive been on here… Work got busy and had some major life changes. On another note, having an issue with my 18’ taco.

When it snowed like 10in last week, i spent the morning driving around pulling people out for hours. I got back, put my car in park, and left my truck for a day or two without driving it. While in the snow, i put it in 4H, 4L and also put on the locking rear dif at one point.

I went to start it one morning a few days after, and it was cold. I’d put it in drive, and try to pull away and it just locked. One rear wheel spins, one doesnt, and i need to roll down the hill in my driveway to free it or put it in 4H. It feels like its a rear dif issue or a brake is frozen or locked somehow. I havent driven my truck enough to know if it only happens in the cold, but every time ive gotten into my car to drive it, it happens. Today, when it was really cold, it was especially bad. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? Is the brake locking up? Any possible fixes?

is there a change the pads are freezing to the front rotors then the back is just 1 wheel peeling? Happened to me once when I drove through some snow/ice water then parked for a bit. Wouldn't go anywhere for a second, built pressure in converter, then they broke free. I was in 4wd so I didn't have any tire spinning.

It’s almost certainly your rear brakes being a little frozen. Happened to me a bunch while I was snow wheeling in PA last weekend. Water gets in there and then freezes because it’s so cold out.
