Best Cold Air Intake for 2.7 engine?

I just bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. I was wondering what the best Cold Air Intake for this truck would be, considering sound and performance, along with fuel mileage and more power? It has a 2.7 motor. Thanks.

NONE dont waste your money. Get a drop in AFE pro dry s and remove the secondary air filter and your good to go

I have a Volant CAI with ram air. I noticed a slight increase in acceleration and it does sound bad ass. The CAI is on the left and the ram air is in the center up front - it allows more air into it. I have it for the 2nd gen, not sure if they make something similar for the 1st gen like yours. I would definitely recommend it if they do make a similar set up for yours.

I am trying to figure out how to incoperate the blocked off fog light holes and route that into the stock air box. Those are extremely high pressure areas and I think that it would pressurize the airbox pretty well and create some nice ram air. I am just so lazy lol

 

where could i go to get this volant with ram air kit?

I have a way that other might be able to save at least 250...buy the ram air itself and use the stock air box. You will have to cut a hole in it and maybe add some tubing to the ram air but it could very easily work. Then remove the secondary and add an AFE pro dry and you got something just as functional as your setup without spending all that coin

Do the deck plate mod and save a few hundred bucks and put on a dyne max superturbo muffler.

 

I have a question I'm thinking of putting a cold air intake into my v4 2.4L toyota tacoma and I was wondering if there would be a problem if I installed an air intake that is for a v6 3.4L into my truck?
Would it fit my truck?

I would personally get the cold air intake that fits your truck. I recently installed a K&N cold air intake in my truck and noticed a decent gain (I have a 2011 tacoma with the 2.7 2TR-FE) Took me from 159bhp to 167bhp and the torque from 180 to 190. It sounds really nice and you notice the increase of power when towing for sure. The engine just breathes so much nicer with cold air intake.

The whole kit ran me $315. I would say its worth it, but its your truck. It wont give you huge gains, but a few extra ponies is always nice.

 

thats a 5% gain from a CAI... do you have the copy of your dyno? Were the gains all over the curve or just at the top?
