At land I have in the Black Hills, I was sitting on my tailgate drinking a beer last spring, and this guy lands nearby, casually walks by me, goes in to some trees and gobbles, then again walks by me like he's king. I hope to see him again ... closer to Thanksgiving! :)

You have to have the windshield replaced anyways, just let your insurance do what it's paid for. I try to save where I can and do things myself but sometimes we have to realize that there is a reason we pay for things like insurance. No fault accident, I have AAA, my rates don't go up.

I had no idea a turkey could fly 60 mph! Learn something new every day:rofl::anonymous:. But seriously it looks like an easy repair as it’s all cosmetic. The clamp looking thing next to the horn isn’t damaged, it came that way, so all you need is to bend a little sheet metal, buy a new grille assembly and a new horn. Total repair time is under an hour.

Be grateful you didn't hit a deer. Those things are really stupid.

I hit one doing about 15 mph this past weekend and broke every plastic bit in the front grill.

Turkeys and deer. Eff em both.
*Honks and shakes fist "Get outta the road!"

I've almost hit an elk though. 4 of them just decided to come running out of the woods. That's what inspired me to get ditch lights and the light bar. Some roads where I live have zero light and plenty of room for these guys to just appear. I try to be cautious, but sometimes after a whole day of driving it gets the better of me.

Some deer are just too dumb to live. A couple days ago out hunting I was moving between spots in broad daylight and about 12 mule deer crossed the dirt road in front of me. I slowed down to let them by but one just decided to stop and stare at me from the middle of the lane and continued to do so until I creeped up about two feet away and honked the horn. A simple blip of the throttle and I'd be eating venison right now with minimal damage to the truck.

Hey, sorry for your loss. I have an extra '21 sr5 grille laying around. No cost. Might help patch up that hole. I noticed you have Washington plates. I'm located in the Bothell area.

A shotgun shell probably would have been cheaper than hunting with a truck.

Follow on, I found this whole set for $200 off a 2019 Taco. Seems super reasonable. I have the screws and clips still. From what I'm researching I can plug & play and get shop to paint match the surround?

// Also found on another forum post the OEM parts store from toyota with the entire assembly I'd need for $380 or so+ shipping and tax. I'm still learning how to reply to individual messages. Appreciate all the support!

You're looking at $200-$300 to have the surround painted to match.

Animal encounters are covered under comprehensive, which could have a different deductible than your collision coverage (mine is $500 for collision but $250 for comp). You could always go to your body shop and get an estimate, then make your decision once you know the number you are dealing with.
