2015 Tacoma Entune(Non-JBL) No SOUND!

Last week my Head-unit decided to stop making any kind of noise at all; no beeping; no sound whether I am in AM/FM, Sate Radio, Bluetooth Connect, USB. Nothing.

The radio powers on and work as should; no issues however there is no sound coming out of the speakers at all. I have never removed the radio or mess with anything Audio in my truck except for about a year ago I changed the speakers out; never had an issue until now, inspected all wiring on the speakers to make sure nothing grounded out and all is well.

Here's how it happened. I was driving with Bluetooth connected to my iphone; starting to notice that the music I was playing on youtube would cut out; no sound. If I stop the music video and play it again, the sound would then come back onto the speakers in the truck.

Well it did this a few times then all a sudden no sound; no matter what I do, even FM radio don't work and the beep that you would hear from pushing the buttons went away too.

I tried the Diagnostic mode; pushing APP button and turning lights on and off 3 times, Pushed Speaker Test and no sound; I reset the head unit, unplug the battery, everything I can think of. I don't know what else to do other than replace the head unit with an aftermarket one which I want to be my last resort.

Anyone ever experience this? and is there a fix?

Edit* I even updated the Entune head unit software to the latest one I can find; still no resolution.

 

If all speakers checked out good, and you really want to keep that radio, my next test would be to disconnect ALL speakers (yes, at the same time,) insulate the wires (just a piece of tape over the ends to keep them from shorting/grounding) and then plug in 1 of them at a time (starting with front tweeters.) If you get sound from any of them, you know at least sound IS there. Then plug in another. Repeat this till all 6 are plugged in.
If you DONT get any sound, you’re pretty much buying a new radio.

 

Thank you; that is a great diagnostic tip. I'll have to try this out tomorrow and see what I can figure out; if it ends up that I need to replace the radio, at least I can justify it then. I've been saving money to get a remote starter installed. I suppose that will have to wait if I got to replace the radio first.

Metra 71-1761 harness and call your local audio shops or Best Buy and see if they have a test bench (power supply and test speaker basically)

 

Tried it out today; no sound from any of the speakers; unplugged them all, connected one here; one there, ect. Nothing, looks like a replacement radio may be needed. This sucks; I suppose it’s gotta be done.

 

Did you ever figure it out? Have a 15 pro doing the same. Static noise started to happen and now nothing.

 

Yes I did figure it out;

On the OEM toyota radios its a common issue; The internal Amplifier chip has a Heat-sink that is attached to it; this heat-sink attachment overtime becomes loose; the internal amplifier chip gets hot and is unable to cool itself thus it fails and then no sound. You can take the radio apart; un-solder the old chip and re-solder in a replacement; but the headache isn't worth it.

Replace the entire radio and be done with it. That's what I did.

 

What radio did you end up going with if you don’t mind me asking.

 

I got my Pioneer W4500Nex on sale for under 600 dollars on Amazon about a year back when my radio failed. Used the Maestro RR steering wheel adapter; it sucked because it got expensive really fast but I could've done so with a cheaper 2500 series Nex radio and be fine too.

 

Or, it could be you just need to turn the volume up on your phone. Ik this sounds silly, but I tried all the other suggestions. Phone volume worked for me.

 

Radio built in amp chip cooked so no more sound. Faulty radio was the issue.

 

Guys I have the same problem - radio died yesterday - Anyone have any diagrams or pictures on taking apart? Removal Guides? or an entune unit for sale for a 2015?

 

I searched on youtube and followed a video; can't remember which one but try there. If you can find a replacement for cheap; maybe re-install another OEM headunit, it'll fail too eventually so I suggest just get a cheap mid 200-300 headunit and install that.
