Personally I think it's wise to in any area with a high volume of people such as a hospital..or even a store, my thought behind that is that not everyone is using common sense etc..

The keyword I think of your post is "need"..it is very possible to manage the way you outlined, no doubt. And absolute agree about the minority affecting the whole..a policy was started in my area at work a few years ago due to several people abusing the freedoms, instead of dealing with those few they installed software that monitors us all.

The fact they wouldn't let someone wait in the vehicle until they are ready to take them in, especially the particulars you mentioned, is silly

You might like the Primus video of that one if you haven't seen it

Did I ever tell you about the former coworker who paid me for use of the Tacoma to help her and sister move into an apartment, then stiffed me on about $10 or $20 of the final agreed upon payout, and got fired for it?

Actually, she was just an incompetent waitress; The fact that she stiffed me was just the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, and my boss didn't not like seeing me get taken advantage of!

i always learn that when it comes to cash jobs for acquaintances, collect the payment before rendering services. Too many deadbeats in this world.

That would be the only time I can truly confirm that I've been stiffed since I joined the working world; In the summer 2015 I took second job at an independent pizzeria (as opposed to a national chain like Domino's or Pizza Hut). I made five bucks an hour under the table plus tips, which was pretty damn good; I was of the understanding that that I would have to help out around the shop, but the cashiers and kitchen staff made more than I did and that was primarily their responsibility.

When large and rather loud Italian immigrant owner was around, nobody fucked with me, but on my first or second night working, that changed once he'd gone home for the night. The 16-year old girl who worked the counter expected me to mop the entire shop, but promptly sat down and fiddled on her phone...

    I don't think so.

I calmly put the mop down, walked outside, and got in my truck. I sat in my truck reading a John Grisham book until my shift was over, ready to deliver any orders that came in as per my job description, but that spoiled brat had to mop the shop on her own; I addressed this issue with the aforementioned owner, who really liked me, and I was never expected to clean the pizzeria again.

I have a Toyota Tacoma, and I was the only delivery driver who didn't (A) make up excuses to skip their shift, or commonly (B) have a shitbox that broke down on a regular basis. This gave me a lot of negotiating power with regards to getting out of undesirable tasks; The owner even convinced me to come in on my day off once by saying I didn't have to do any mop. After I left in early November 2015, he made several attempts to get me to come back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in dating relationships or even marriages, isn't the guy generally into cars and trucks while the woman is generally not?

I understand that are exceptions to every rule, but there's this girl I really like who told me I should find someone who's more into cars than she is.

I'm going to be 33 in March; This girl will be 24 this year. We are both on the autism spectrum. She goes to college, works two jobs, and has a learner's permit, but hasn't gotten her license yet because she is genuinely afraid of driving.

What kinda hurts me is that she doesn't think someone like me who is obsessed with cars can't date someone like her who, in her own words, has zero interest in them.

Everyone I've talked to says the 9-year age gap is not a problem at all; My friend and former boss was born in 1988, and her husband was born in 1976.

A girl I went to middle school with and was born the same year as me (1989) is dating a guy in his 60s. I am a bit weirded out by that, but to each their own.

This girl I'm interested in is totally put off by the age difference between us (though she still wants to be friends) and she also told me that a male friend roughly her age flat out asked her to have sex. I am not one of those guys, but apparently a couple guys have just asked her to hook and she has turned them down.

I don't think there's gonna be any change in her views, but I just wanted everyone else's opinion...

I'm not one to give any quality relationship advice, but I know how people who hyperfocus on things can be... if she's not into it much and it's a good bit of what you talk about then I can see that being a rough spot. I'm not saying to avoid sharing what's on your mind, but knowing where the limit of someone else's interest is can be important to maintaining healthy dialog.

It's not all I talk about; She is a self-confessed thrill seeker and we have plans to go to Dorney Park for a roller coaster marathon this summer. I'm also trying to convince her to go paintballing with me and my friends sometime.

The last girl I was with, with whom I went to school and briefly reconnected, accompanied me to two car shows and a demolition derby over the course of a month. She genuinely seemed to enjoy herself, and I impulsively hopped into bed with her along the way, but it soon became apparent that she was the same mental case she had been years earlier and I severed ties for good because I just couldn't deal with her bullshit anymore.

While she did enjoy the car shows, I am 99% sure she mostly wanted an escape from her shitty home life at someone else's expense...

For the record, I work and she doesn't; When you combine the fact that I was always footing the bill with fact that she could go from a total sweetheart to a total psycho at the drop of a hat, it was a recipe for disaster.

This lovely young woman I am presently interested in is on the autism spectrum like me, but she is both intelligent and mentally stable, two traits that other girl lacked.

You blew it with her talking too much about cars, she found it off putting. Let women know your interests but don’t take it too far. Keep the focus on having fun and learning about her. Let her ask questions about you. She’s just saying the age difference thing now because it’s an excuse to let you down easy.

Try talking about some topics/hobbies that she is interested in. The roller coaster marathon is a good idea.

I've put my wife to sleep on a road trip talking about cars. She's not into cars, boxing, hunting etc. but she will play along for a bit. I just need to remind myself when I'm only on "send" and not "receive" in a conversation. It's perfectly normal to have a partner who doesn't share all the same interests. And it's normal to want to share your interests with your partner.

You want to share your interest in cars with her. What does she want to share with you?

Also, your knowledge of cars is impressive and it may be intimidating to her as a person who is afraid of getting their license.

I would drop the car convo. Talk about her and do things she wants to do. Guys are generally terrible at this and girls usually let them be terrible at it. It also sounds like this girl is giving you a few reasons why she's not game. I'd just hang out with her and not push anything.

Actually, I just asked her to a car show; First "date" was going to see the latest Spider-Man movie with a couple other friends present. I spent almost $120 to buy out an entire row of seats so the four of us could spread out and at the same time appease our parents who are super-worried about COVID. We are also going to Dorney Park this summer, and she loves video games. Our second "date" was me bringing her to the home of a wealthy friend who has all manner of high-end electronic entertainment in his basement; This includes BeamNG.drive, a highly accurate driving simulator with a realistic manual transmission mode that despite not being into cars, she loved. Teaching her how to drive manual didn't work out so well though; Thankfully, it was a virtual truck she ground up the transmission in and not a real one!

Also, her mom drives a 2007-2010ish Escalade ESV (basically a Suburban) and attempted to teach her to drive in that monstrosity. I learned to drive in a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2002 BMW 325i, both far more forgiving than an Escalade.

I would also advise that it is far better for any relationship, especially in early stages, for you to do new things together instead of one trying to teach the other something.

Keep your mind open and heart clear.

I wasn't looking for a GF or wife or friend w/benefits when I began my time at the University. My focus was on learning to become an Engineer. I had a particularly rough day in classes, was late getting to the dining hall, collected my supper, entered the seating area to discover it was packed. Found 1 empty chair, it was at a table full of females (dorm floor of friends). I plopped into the chair saying, "You don't mind if I sit here." Put my head down to begin shoveling in the mess. After a few minutes the gal sitting to my right tried to start a conversation with me......I was not in a talking mood. I recall ignoring her attempt. Anyhow, a few days later our paths crossed and I apologized for my rude behavior. Well, soon we were helping each other with studies. She was a Computer Science major, I was Mechanical Engineering major. She assisted me with English papers, I assisted her with Calculus. We began dating and were married in 1989. I was 29 yo, she was 27yo. Its been 33 years of wonderful life. This Spring we celebrate 34 years.

IMHO, the girl you are seeing is building reasons to end the relationship. The things she doesn't like are petty things in life. These will be her lever to exit.

My wife has never attempted to change my interests. Even though, she shares no desire to ride/repair classic motorcycle or cars/trucks or woodworking or home DIY work. Conversely, I have no desire in her interests of genealogy, crafts, puzzles....... My point, we accept each other interests. There are other deeper reasons we trust, care and love each other. Hobbies are petty things in a long relationship and have little meaning.

    Good Luck. Follow your instincts.

Common ground is good. But with regard to that which shall not be discussed... not discussing it much in a young relationship is good advice too. It's a contentious topic and people who are new to each other tend to just agree with whatever to avoid conflict, y'all might be reading the same book, but you're probably not on the same page if you catch my drift. General rules apply, unless you're very close it isn't a good topic in polite conversation.

yep! The "still wants to be friends" is a serious relationship killer. Not the age or disinterest in cars.
