I would venture to guess that there are too many layers involved to make this work. We love our privacy so thats probably somewhere in the Toyota GPS EULA. The police would effectively need to get a warrant for this info which would only happen if someone dies/kidnapped. GPS signals are also very easy to jam (disconnect the antenna or even elec noise from a drill will stuff the receiver) and i am sure the thief's know this.

Hit and hold lock button and hit unlock twice. Key Fob led will blink twice and effectively put the key into low power. You can still start the truck with it via the chip inside, just need to push the push-start with the keyfob itself.

range sensing tech like airtags is pretty common. you could put a receiver in the truck that connects/disconnects the keyfob receiver based on your proximity to the car. The encryption capabilities in this tech is waay better than what the key fob is using.

So basically this would enable the truck to only unlock/start based on the airtag AND the keyfob, or would you be bypassing the keyfob for only airtag?

Love the idea, but I would be concerned for how that affects something like the remote start for example.

Obviously higher security is less convenience though, I would give up a few things for a secure truck.

Basically what you just described. I have no idea how the remote start systems work so not sure if disabling the fob reader in the truck would prevent the remote start from working or not.

To my understanding we have chip keys in the 2nd gens.
I may be wrong buy Im pretty sure the only way they're stealing 2nd gens is getting towed or already having the key.

Just buy a high quality boot. This’ll be enough of a visual deterrence, slow them down enough, and unless they have a crane, they’ll move on to the next one.

I used one but it damaged the steering wheel a bit.
Now I park inside (for the winter, too big if a pain in the ass for the summer).

I'm going to block the VIN to start, and go back to the Club when I park outside after reading all this.

The flag for sure or a penisFab decal. Either way I think this is the way.
Having a "slightly used" trail truck I think helps a lot in all seriousness. Go get couple of dents, cracked tail light, huge pin stripes, etc...

Yeah, adding a kill switch would be ideal.

    Yes we are chipped.
