Meh it won't matter for rigidity honestly...vertical separation of like 6" or more is pretty good. And you want the lower arms to kick out towards the tires as much as you can without rubbing...I think I got like an inch or 2 between tire and link(wider axle too) but giving them that kick out gets rid of the "link steer" and will cycle alot cleaner...its more noticeable goin fast thru bigger hits but all the same might as well dial it in best ya can...just factors to consider is all

I was planning on doing 9.25” vertical separation at the axle (25% of 37, currently on 35’s but you know… :transformer:) appears to be a ton of room to work with. Would hate to try to link the front. I may have to rebuild the crossmember the charcoal canister mounts to depending on bump, but that’s no issue at all. Anything I can do to make it the best the first time is good for me. It’s all new territory for me

The gas tank cross members will be cut out and bumping the axle tubes all the way to the frame with the upper links mounted on the diff will go through the bed. The gas tank and charcoal canister will have to be relocated to the bed with the charcoal canister mounted higher than the gas tank and horizontally to keep the emissions system happy.

The 25% thing is something to shoot for, not a rule. Plenty of folks run with a bit less.

I’m ditching the bed and tank/evap. No tests here and it’ll be trailered outside of driving it to work occasionally to keep things happy and working. 9.25” was about what I’d get with making a 2x2” square tube truss sitting on the diff center. That was with the links mounted to the bottom though. Not sure what to do about the exhaust/muffler though. Any short options out there? Don’t need all that brap brap. Got dirt bikes for that

You going to cage the cab at the same time you build your bed cage?

Nah I’ll be doing more of a flat bed halfass bed cage rather than a full on cage. I debated doing an exo cage, but there’s not enough room for support on the sides in my limited opinion unless you go without rear doors and use that space to triangulate (I’m a double cab) if I ever got serious and wanted this to be a true crawler and SAS the front yeah I’d figure it out. I see this build as like low end long travel or mid travel on steroids and will drive accordingly. I’m also one to keep expectations low so that I’m never disappointed

Research, plan, measure, research, plan, study, measure 17,000 more times and have most your questions answered before you start. There’s a lot more to it than just slapping brackets and links in.

I’ve linked two Tacoma’s, a standard shock on axle and one trailing arm. Currently 3 linking a 4Runner.

I picked up an RCI 2191A fuel cell. Is it possible to use the factory pump in the filler neck location and I guess tap a new hole for the filler? Also looking at Motobilt’s cell for the Jeeps stock pump and their flange is 6” as well and appears it would work with the taco pump right out of the box. Kinda clueless with the fuel cell stuff and not trying to reinvent the wheel. Would love to keep the factory gas gauge, but not concerned with evap unless it’s an easy addition.

Awesome, I have a pretty good idea of how I want to do mine eventually, but the more there are out there to see and know what works, the better.

No doubt. I’m glad UA separated statics and dynamics into two courses now. So much of this is covered in the first couple weeks of statics and doesn’t get over complicated by adding dynamics to it right off the bat. I’ve solved hundreds of problems similar to four link set ups and had no idea I’d be using it for this haha
