Well I recently adjusted my 5100's to highest setting & my tires are pretty much done anyway so I haven't aligned the front yet, the tire you see was in front & thats how they wear when the alignment isn't done shortly after, obliviously I wouldn't wait if tires were new, but a good lesson to align as soon as possible & good observation on your part....:D

Maybe I could tag along with Tri and take pictures. Never been co-pilot before and wouldn't mind seeing someone else's truck going through an obstacle course. I'd still be down. It's a shame though its not PreRunner friendly. Of course I was thinking... if Dougs truck can do it. Haha  I know. I know.

Doug... I would like to get my truck in a spot to photo the rear tire in the air and compare some various combos... You could video?

    1) 2WD, open diff... watch tire spin and truck is stuck.
    2) 2WD, TRAC... see lite LSD action?
    3) 2WD, AUTO LSD... see stronger LSD action? (this would also be the same as H4)
    4) A-TRAC... see the elevated tire move maybe just a bit before A-TRAC matches it to the other tire in back.
    5) Rear Locker... no movement except the same as opposite tire.

I need to come to El Cajon maybe this week one day... how far away is that spot and would yopu be able (and game) to go? You too Crom!

David, that would be fun to do. I did a bunch of A-TRAC videos last year when I had time to do such things. Lyons Valley road is about 30 minutes from El Cajon. See this link for a map. I couldn't find that exact place Doug was at but I did look around the area and there seems to be a number of dirt trails.

Hey guys heres some help finding this place, this pic shows the entrance to Barret Honor Camp off of Lyons valley rd. The start of the Pancake rock trail is about 1/2 a mile west from this "meeting place" on the right hand side.. Its real easy to go right past the trailhead & not realize it, one clue is there maybe a couple vehicles parked along the entrance , alot of hikers go up for the view, like I've mentioned before this is not a trail for novices ( I know you guys aren't) more for the reason of the trail being pretty narrow & steep with little or no room for error . Its do-able but def. jeep trail & to be honest I don't want to hit it until I get some armor as in sliders at the minimum... I will say this, the first 50ft off the pavement & the first obstacle will have you muttering to yourself whether or not you want to or should you continue , it only gets worse from there in more than a couple of spots, this is where the sliders come in, if you have the skills & the armor to continue you are in for a somewhat short but def. challenging, adrenalin rush of a ride up the hill with awesome views from the top of pancake rock....:eek:;)

Heheheh, hi David, oh I KNOW you can do it, its just can you do it without damage ??:eek::eek: I know Sean (guy that I followed ) has a dbl cab 2nd gen. with some lift & sliders & he still beat the hell out of them & I also put a ding into the pass. side rocker panel (that side was undamaged) so I'll wait but if you're armored then def, do it, you'll love the view & going up pancake rock is awesome....:D

Okay... my bumper was snagged when I dropped down the cliff/ road at Mision Santa Maria... If you find another place where I can get one tire (or more) in the air like that... let's go!

I am coming to El Cajon in a week (Tuesday 8th) to pick up some cases of books from publisher... so I will have some weight in the back (even though there's no snow in San Diego)! If I don't have a job to get to that afternoon do you (and Crom) want to meet up somewhere not too far from El Cajon/ Lakeside?

Loss of traction is not the issue. Its avoiding rocks that like to meet rocker panels and everything else. So sliders are a must (except first gens, but still wanted).

Actually the traction is pretty good, yeah, its those narrow rutted spots that there's no "best line", more like which rock is gonna less damage...
