    Well shucks.

I thought I scored a good deal the other day when I picked up a 10k watt electric heater for my 900 square foot garage for 25% off.

Unfortunately, I literally don't have enough power to run the damn thing.

    Back to the drawing board...

How many amp breaker does that need?

I assumed it was a 240v unit. Yes?

6 Guage wire and a 50 amp breaker?

Do you have an electric dryer plug nearby?

2x2 was another thought, but just seemed flimsy.

Sorry for the delay... the song of my people played and we had to go point out the transformer on fire to the power company hahaha

So yeah.. it's 240v and requires #6 wire and 70 amp breakers.. which is exactly what I have powering the detached garage. Sure I could heat it, but then I would not even be able to turn on a light haha.

    20220108_103518.jpg

This is what I bought, but it doesn't say anything about the wiring requirements until you open it up. Oh well.. I'll figure out something else.

If you have good pocket hole jig, do something like this. If you can zoom in to pic. Or glue and nail/ screw two pieces of 3/4" boards @90° together to form legs. And box in a place for drawer or what not. The cross pieces would work better with pocket holes.

Where did you get this info? My research says it needs a 45 amp breaker. (50amp).

If you are able to run the correct wire to it's plug, your 70amp box should feed it just fine.

You might have to shut it off when the welder or compressor is in use.

Look.. I'm not an electrician. One of my firefighters is a licensed one tho and after a visit from him today, he said it's not going to work.

And the 5k watt one is only good for 500 square feet. That's a little too small for my garage. I did some research before buying this one... just not enough on the electrical side.
