I don’t want it either. Funny though I just saw another one in the window of a pawn shop 2 weekends ago.

    Hey Folks,

Wondering if any of you have a vintage motorcycle and who you insure it through.

The nada value on the bike is $800 but it’s worth ten times that. So I want to insure it for replacement value in case it gets stolen.

Hagerty is known for insuring vintage vehicles. I’d check with them. Most collector vehicle insurance companies have what’s called an “agreed value” where you and the company can agree to a value of a vehicle and insure it based on that amount. I have no direct experience myself but I’ve heard good things from a few gray hairs in local car clubs.

I’m guessing it’ll take me about 10 hours. I’ll probably be doing about one or two hours after dinner a night and going real slow with it.

I have agreed value coverage on my 81 cb750. It was pretty easy to set up when I called my agent. I use progressive, btw, but I’m sure most companies will do one.

I think more specialized companies will have the edge though when it comes to repairs, etc. If you’re just worried about total value go with whoever, if you’re more worried about insurance co finding someone appropriate to repair bikes with correct parts and them paying appropriate values on repairs, then I’d go specialized.

These gloves are pretty badass, can’t wait to try them out to see how they do. Neat little soft case for them too!

I checked out Hagerty a few years ago for my Honda CB400F and unless their policies have changed they were only taking motorcycles if you already had a collector car insured with them. Let me know if you find out differently.

Just scored a deal on fleabay for a used Penske rear shock built by Traxxion Dynamics in GA for $250 for my FJR. Retail on these is just under $1100 so even with sending it back to Traxxion to go over and rebuild it plus spring it for my weight I think I did okay!

Good score. I can’t imagine a rebuild being too pricey

Reached out to an FJR buddy of mine who has this exact same shock and I have put quite a few miles on that bike so I'm pretty familiar with it. He sent it back to Penske right here in Reading, PA and they rebuilt his and replaced a cracked bottom clevis for $235 but he can't recall if that included a new replacement spring but I'm thinking he had mentioned that in the past. Even if it runs me as high as $300 which I don't feel it should, I'll still be over $500 ahead of a new one and one heck of an upgrade.

The bike I am looking to insure is a CB750 built up as a cafe racer so its not vintage but custom. I just reached out to them and said if its custom that it has to be 1975 or older to insure. Didn't say anything about also having a car insured.
