Damn that thing is pricey but I don't doubt it's sick

Last time I hiked I almost got run-over by a dude bombing up the trail on one

 

I have a set of 5160's on my shelf. I thought they seemed too short for my 3" all pro standards

They have a 5125 that's a little longer than the 5100's I have them on now. I removed the 5100's in favor of the 5125's. I am also running 6112'a up front. I'm happy with the setup.

Both the 5160 and the 5125's have a smaller eyelet and a had to get different hour glass shaped bushings to get them installed.

I didn't even know Bilstein made 6112s for 1st gens. No one talks about them. I'm considering 5125s for the rear on his truck and Dakars since they're the cheapest. He really wants to keep things under $1000. Some people said the 6112s and 5100/5125 would be too unbalanced as far as ride quality. I figure anything is better than blown Rough Country.

The 5160s look nice but I don't want reservoirs on his truck and they require a shield for the passenger side to protect the shaft from road debris. The rear axle shields the driver side a bit more.

 

6112's still a little muddy from Sunday Funday.


The 5125's and 5100's do at least have a dust boot and I know the 5160's were back ordered for a little while to so availability might help rule that out even further

$15 at the car wash and I still have mud everywhere. I usually take my lift ramps to the car wash with me so I can get underneath a bit easier but forgot

The 5125's and 6112's have handled great for me.

 

This pretty much decides it then lol. I debated on doing the ubolt flip on his truck with super bumps since it's so easy on 2nd gens. But then I remembered he doesn't wheel and it's $300 more. I also almost forgot new ubolts and extended rear brake lines. Didn't realize 2nd gens had two soft lines back there on the axle.

 

I have a U bolt flip kit hanging out on the shelf next to the 5160's haha
Im sure your pop's truck will be just fine without it.

 

I had the leaf springs on my 09 replaced with the recall and they transferred my extra leaf from the old pack back on for me. I had bilsteins that puppy too. I went with coilovers on that one and had 5100's in the rear. I didn't need extended brake likes.
