Do the Daytime Running Lights need to be permanently disabled for this mod?

 

I can't find the male half of the connector, maybe google the connector part numbers and see what you can find?

 

More knowledgeable individuals than I have tried and that was more or less their conclusion, can't be found.

 

Because that part is the actual computer and isn't available separately.

 

Should I buy the updated plug and resister and wire it in now?

 

One tiny correction. It's higher than our alternators are configured to produce, they can put out the voltage with the addition of the diode without known damage to the alternator.

How long did it take to kill them? The HKB was sold out forever and I found another thread that had a fuse from GM to replace the factory one and it seems to be working for the most part. Volts flux a bit but never drop below 14

 

About 1.5 years somewhere in there it's not a *it's going to explode tomorrow!* kinda deal but it definitely shortens battery life if you don't get one.

 

I replaced mine almost 2 years ago and then did the fuse shortly after so I'm hoping it doesn't take a dump soon ha we will see though.

You can also try a "desulfate" cycle on a battery charger that can do so on an AGM if you're worried you may have done harm to it.

 

I also got 3 years on the warranty

 

1. Cleaned the MAF Sensor. Definitely had some buildup on it.
2. Changed air filter
3. Changed the cabin air filter. Man it was dirty!!

 

Of course it’s for non-DTRL models. I’d be hesistant to disable ours in Canada but this sure looks awesome.

Yes, in order to use the smart tap flasher it cannot have daytime running lights so you essentially take the module out and replace it with an actual flasher. You’re still left with the marker lights up front on either side.
