Brake Upgrade: StopTech Rotors + TRD Performance Pads

Yes, the Wilwood set up does have 2 piece lightweight directional rotors. I couldn’t tell you which is better but I am very satisfied with the Wilwoods over the stock oem setup. I simply went with these because I’ve had them on a previous muscle car and was blown away with the stopping power. As soon as I saw they were out for our trucks, I knew I’d be getting them. That and I got a great Black Friday deal…..

You got a great deal on these! I did similarly well when putting Wilwoods on my GT500. As I recall, we both leveraged sales/coupons to get the deals we did.

The moral of the story for anyone considering Wilwoods (and probably other brands) is that they DO go on sale from time-to-time. FWIW, I bought mine thru THMotorsports, but they drop-shipped from Wilwood. My only complaint was the delivery timeline, which took several weeks.

plenty of dealers still seem to have the TRD pads in stock on a regular basis - I had some from Toyota of Glendale in my cart on Ebay yesterday but now I'm leaning towards whether I do this, the EBC Yellowstuff or just go all out with the Wilwood BBK

PTR0989111) is compatible with 2nd AND 3rd gens correct?

Also keeping my eyes open for StopTech sport slotted cryo rotors...

 

I did find a few other dealers, not local, that have those pads, thanks! As for the cryo rotors, tire rack claims they can ship them to me on 1/20 for $183 per side. I haven't kept up with the thread enough to know if thats around what people have been paying lately for them or not though.

 

Based on what I've seen, I think that's about what they're going for these days, which is another reason I'm still "looking."

Does anyone know of any southeastern dealers that have the TRD pads in stock? There's a 20% off TRD parts and free shipping at a bunch of southeastern dealers, but I can't find any with the pads in stock.

 

So after 6 months of this upgrade, I have problems. My brakes grind when coming to a stop. Like a gritty vibration grind. Not good at all. I took it to a shop and they are saying shit pads. Defective/faulty whatever. Rotors look good. Is it possible that the TRD pad are junk?? Bad batch?

 

Could be a bad batch. Installed mine late summer 2020 and no issues.

 

Considering the going price for the cryo rotors + TRD pads is around $480ish in this current point in time, would you guys recommend something else in that price range that would be a good upgrade? This combo seemed like a really solid upgrade when it was nearly $200 less. I'm wondering if I'm looking at spending $500 when its all said and done, if there is a better recommendation?

 

I had the pads replaced today and I would recommend any other pad at this point. The pads were chipped all over, one cracked. One had a chunk missing out of the middle of the pad. How does that happen?? Mechanic that was waiting on it said definitely shitty pads. Maybe it was a fluke?? Who knows

 

Trying to find these Stoptech Sport slotted rotors has been tricky, i can find 1 side on Amazon and another side on walmart. Another site says they are back ordered till 3/31

Just to confirm, these fit on 3rd gens with no issue right?

 

Not sure about 3rd Gen compatibility but TireRack has the rotors delivered by 3/1 to me.
