If you are still running the OEM idler pulley, then yes, just replace the bearing.

It's easier to just replace the whole pulley but while you wait for it to arrive if you need one shipped you can rebuild the bearings that are going bad. Just punch out the bearing with an appropriate sized socket and remove the rubber seals. Clean them out and repack with grease. Then repeat in reverse order. You'll have a spare afterwards.

First off, aftermarket pumps suck. The one I tried only lasted a year, and was noisy from the get go. Good thing I saved my OEM pump. Rebuilt it, and it's still going strong. On the 5VZ pump the rebuild kit is just O-rings. There is no bearing, so it must be bad O-rings. The 3RZ pump does have a bearing, so obviously it could be that too.

This. Rebuilding is the best option. O-rings are where a lot of them seem to fail.

No dynaliner is acoustic foam isn't it? We are talking mass loaded vinyl, like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NAFWT3...colid=2079LZ8C9DA1A&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

    https://soundproofadvice.com/mass-loaded-vinyl-vs-acoustic-foam-sound-insulation-pros-cons/

    https://www.secondskinaudio.com/sound-blocking/

    Basically blocks road/transmission/engine noise.

I think they leak internally, from one part of the pump to another causing the pump to not be able to produce the required pressure.

I was planning on doing this. I even took the actuator off my old dif. Hadn't gotten around to swapping them yet, and I'm glad because the 4wd light started working today! I have used 4wd daily, off and on, since I put the new dif on last week. I guess it just needed to knock the cobwebs off.

How did you program? I have a 2001 4 door and it has power locks and the guys I bought it from who was the original owner said that it had keyless entry, but I don’t know if it was dealership installed and maybe an aftermarket one? My 96 is all manual locks and stuff so the power locks and keyless entry is confusing to me. Pm me if we don’t want to gum up this thread

Gonna pass, just spoke to a tech at dynamat, basically said it would be overkill and that the dynamat extreme that I’m using is essentially doing the same thing.

I want to say there is a difference in programming between the straight 'keyless entry' and the Toyota Alarm system (which is what I have). Attaching PDF I used.

Isn't the dynamat extreme just the butyl rubber stuff? or is the other stuff you're using also made by dynamat?

Tried to get an alignment today, after 5 hours they couldn't figure it out. Then they said that the right strut is on the left and the left is on the right.. and they are both out of date and worn out. (mind you these are brand new) All though the new lower ball joint front left is defective, (About to see if Rock auto is true to their claim). They also say the rack is off a small car and not right for a 99 tacoma, (Too short). Mind you I life in the sticks of Mississippi. I did try to adjust the tie rod ends, they fell out. only about 1/4 inch was holding it in.

Bringing it to the body shop next week to check the frame. Although there is no sign of frame damage, the sway bar is off kilter on the right side.

So much for my day, how ya'll doin?.

    Well they sound incompetent asf

Unless you jacked a steering rack out of a car and made it fit somehow

First time I've ever heard of the shocks being side-specific, unless you've got a spacer or fancy spring to account for taco lean?

The steering rack and LBJ issues, if they're true, are concerning. I wouldn't be excited about driving 40 miles to the next shop with that knowledge. Post some pictures of the rack and someone here ought to be able to tell you if it's wrong.

Shoehorning the wrong rack sure does sound like a lot more work than getting the right rack...

FWIW I got the ACC Essex carpet with mass backing and it's been good. I tried the vinyl kit before that and didn't like it.
An option to consider if you don't want to put Dynamat down.
