The lift kit has Nothing to do with the rubbing! It's your alignment!

I have 17x8.5 Icon wheels with 285/70R17 General Grabber tires and ZERO rubbing offroading full stuff! 2" 887 OME coils on Bilstein 5100's.
The lift doesn't make a difference!
It's how your alignment is set up!

Looks like with the radar lower, your bull bar is right in front of it. I'd guess that'll be a problem.

$1720 total seems a lot more reasonable than the $3,000 I've heard from our closest dealer!

Anyone in the northern California foothills or central valley get this installed at a dealer for around that $570 labor?

I have a new TRD Sport being delivered in about a month and my dealership in Maine said that the TRD Lift Kit would be about $2,000 installed and built into the final price of the vehicle.

I keep going back and forth on if I should do it. The reason why I want it is for A) to be able to fit 265/70r17 WildPeak tires on stock wheels without rubbing on mud flaps or anywhere else. I know it shouldn't but it sounds like it happens more often than not. B) Improved suspension. C) I would get the pro grill anyway. D) I don't know how to install anything myself E) Warranty.

I'm concerned about how this could affect towing... Without the rake, is it going to squat when towing a 3,000lb boat/trailer?

The ride is great, way better than stock. It will probably squat some with payload/towing. I ultimately swapped out the block in the rear that came with the kit for an OME HD leaf pack. If you're not carrying a load on a regular basis, you may not need anything else. There are obviously a ton of options out there, but it's a good kit IMO for a daily driven truck and I'm happy with it.

I called my dealer asking about the kit and what tires will fit it. Their tire specialist told me 285/70r17. I haven't really seen anyone in this thread with that size though. I feel like that's just a little too big without doing either a CMC or some major fender work? I may just go with 275/70r17 to be safe. Tires will be Falken ATs and wheels will be 17in TRD Pro (Bronze 4runner wheels).

I did not consider any additional options at the time of my DCSB Sport purchase. I’m bummed about that after the fact but such is life.

My suggestion is to get what you want before taking ownership. Here’s a little blip I read about the Kit.

The Tacoma TRD Lift Kit comes backed by the same warranty as all TRD accessories, which includes a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty on parts if it is installed prior to or at the time of the sale, or a 1-year, 12,000-mile warranty on parts if installed afterward.

There is an alternative to the dealer's huge mark up that some may want to know about and also the Bilstein warranty.

Just install the much better Bilstein 6112/5160 dampeners and Bilstein coils yourself for less money and get lifetime limited warranty as long as you own them.

If I wasn’t able to just buy the TRD shocks like I did in early 2021, aftermarket Bilstein is definitely the route I would have gone.

Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
I would take the Bilstein over the TRD branded as there are more settings and the lifetime warranty. People are so worried about the factory warranty being void which we all know cannot happen, were only talking front struts and shocks here.

Some people talk about "Buyers Remorse", EXAMPLE when not willing to wait for an OR (which isn't available and has long lead time) and get another model they didn't really want...

Mine is, "Add-on remorse"...lol! Making a purchase and trying to keep the price within a certain threshold...then learning the best time to do the add-on is when negotiating it during sale.

I don't buy New vehicles often (because I expect them to last until the loan is paid off/with regular scheduled MX of course) so my focus is staying within a budget.

Live and learn...or forget the next time around...lol!

    Thanks for the advice.

Those, TRD shocks, were made by Bilstein just like the factory TRD Bilstein shocks.

The 6112/5160 Bilstein dampeners with Bilstein coils and the included remote ressy's are infinitely better for ~$1200-$1300. You just need to install them yourself or pay someone to put them on. Lift height is similar.

OMG.... Yes, I did the same thing. My brand new 1992 Toyota 4X4 truck was sold after 14 years, then our 2003 Pathfinder lasted 15 years. So I was a little naive going into the process purchasing our 2020 with dealer installed ad-on's. Rough estimate I could have probably saved about $500.00 CDN. However, after 14 months of ownership I'm still smiling while enjoying the new truck.

I called my local dealer today and they said they would not install this kit. I was looking to purchase since it is on sale for $1,055. They referred me to outside shops. Anyone else experience this?

    I can't say I have that problem.

The dealership I bought my truck from (Maryland) quoted me roughly $2,600 + Tax and Shop Supplies. (Same location quoted $4K/OEM LEDs headlights, total install)

I called around here in Delaware...in Wilmington, I was quoted $2400 and no taxes.

Then I went to Toyota dealership here in Dover and surprisingly got the best deal: $1450 for kit + $720 Labor, total $2,170.

This Toyota clerk & Maintenance Lead told me this location has not done the install on anyone's Tacoma either...it would be a first.

Doesn't bother me that they haven't done the install...it would still be OEM install and not affect my extended warranty.

Hope you find someplace to do install. It's going to be tough trying to get dealership to install an OEM kit not purchased at their location.
