It’s been 2 days and no calls back from Toyota so I’m in the dark. My work schedule is so crazy I haven’t got to go up there since there closed when I wake up for work and closed when I get off. I’ll have to stay on them. But I haven’t done any mods to the truck besides the lift and tires except some LED conversion’s for the headlights and a aftermarket grille. That’s it. I bought the truck with 44k on the dash and now it has 82k. It’s truly a mall crawler nothing else. No mud or trails just concrete lol.

Sorry I haven’t responded in awhile just been busy at work guys. But as soon as I find something out I’ll post it. And I’m just now realizing how to answer people specifically without @‘ing anyone.

My guess is bad torque converter. Unfortunately you’re past the 60000 miles powertrain warranty. A good relationship with your dealer might swing in your favor and they might split the cost with you. Hopefully this ends well in your favor .

Prove that something didn't cause something else? What? That doesn't make legal or logical sense.

Bingo. But, if you win in court your can recover legal fees and associated costs. If you lose, well then your fucked.

well, despite all of the comments in this thread shaming you for asking a simple question, if the dealer made no indication that your lift/tire setup caused the issue when they diagnosed it, and you have the extended warranty, I do think you have a pretty good shot at a "fair" resolution. Now "fair" might not mean what you hope it means, but just keep it respectful in your interactions, take ownership of responsibility if they put some of the burden of cost to repair on you, but also don't just give in at first mention of them trying to wash their hands of it. Be genuine, keep integrity, and ask for an honest educational explanation of how they (or any other Toyota dealer) can sell trucks off their lot with larger than stock tires/aftermarket/non toyota brand lifts, and those trucks not end up like yours. You don't need to throw things in their face, but if you can bring awareness to another truck on their lot with aftermarket stuff, it could at least open the door to a respectful discussion of reconsideration, if they do end up trying to turn it on you. I agree with others that anytime we mod our trucks, we assume responsibility, but we'd all also be asking your same questions if it were us. Good luck OP.

I think that may depend on your state for recovering any legal fees. Here in connecticut you can win your case, but somehow you can still feel screwed unless you can prove you suffered physical injuries.

GREAT NEWS GUYS!!!!! I know it’s been a minute but I just got the call today. Toyota said they’d replace my torque converter and transmission. Apparently the 2017’s were issued a not so reliable torque converter that could lead to transmission problems. Maybe I misunderstood the maintenance guy so please don’t be critical of what I’m saying lol but the good news is if you have a 17 with the same problems note that it had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRES OR AT HOME LIFT.
