TRD Sport vs TRD Pro ride on pavement

Anyone out here either test drive both the TRD Sport and the TRD Pro and can comment on the ride quality between the two? Or maybe you went from a Sport to a Pro, any regrets based on the ride? What I am looking for is a ride that is firm without being harsh, think supple. I do not want a lot of nose dive when braking or a bouncy ride. Not looking to buy one, but the ZR2 nailed the ride, in that it handles pot holes, bumps, etc, but still has a firm sporty ride and handles well for what it is. I am not interested in the TRD Offroad as that is too soft a ride for me. Thoughts on TRD Sport vs TRD Pro. I know the Pro will handle much better off road, so I am really just looking for on road feedback at this point, thanks.

I did not drive the PRO, but I will say for sure that the Sport will be stiffer then PRO on the pavement. My stock sport suspension with rock hard E load tires was amazing on curvy highways.

Sport has the stiffest suspension out of all trims. That’s why it has the scoop and it’s a race truck.:p

I’m skeptical that anyone could tell the difference in a blind test.

    Maybe.

The sport is super stiff though, it’s got the thickest sway bar too. I would think the ride quality of fox shocks would be much better than the toothpick hitachis.

Are you sure the sway bar is different?

The Fox shocks are designed for off road performance not on road performance.

I have only test driven a sport and have never driven a pro, but I have driven a SR5 for 3 years, a stock off road for 6 months, and a king equipped off road for 2 years and I perceive the daily road driving to me indistinguishable. I have noticed differences when towing/hauling and driving fast on rough roads and trails.

I like the solid feel of the sport's suspension. Doesn't handle corners like my Mini Cooper S but hey, it's a truck.

Yes the sway bar is thicker on the sport.

I installed OME pro charger shocks and man what a difference off road. Wish there was a quick sway bar disconnect like on the Jeep’s.

I have 18 sport dclb and I install the Bilstein TDR pro suspension (15) on it. Didn't notice much of a difference in ride, gained 2" of lift, but I added 3 leaf add a leaf.

The 2nd Gen Bilsteins are way stiffer than the current Foxes.

    Like, so many.
I've owned both a Sport and OR in the 3rd gen and the Sport was too stiff for my liking. Definitely handles curves better though.

Would you call it somewhat harsh over rough roads, or just firm?

I suggest spending less time on this forum. It will help you keep grip with reality. :)

I dunno, I was given a blind taste test for Jalapeno kettle chips. Jays Jalapeno Krunchers vs Generic Jalapeno kettle chips. I knew the difference. LOL!!

I would actually call it harsh. Potholes were rough.

Thanks. The back roads where I live are not great, thanks to something called Winter. Highways are fine, but not so much for backroads, so do not want something to harsh...

The 16” tires/wheels would help a bit as well with more give than the 17”

Driving is one of the few things I do exclusively for my own enjoyment. To go 100 miles, get a snack, then turn around and go home makes perfect sense to me.

The Sport ride says "game on" every time I get on the road. Sure, it could be considered harsh or busy by some, especially if you are comparing it to a sedan. I find it engaging, it keeps me interested and on my game, you are conscious of the road under you. I term it "bang, boom, zoom".

I have taken several long trips, up to 700 miles in one day and when I pulled back in the driveway I was tired -- but I was still jazzed up, having fun and wishing I had 50 more miles to go.

Test drive and test drive again.
It is really a personal perception, you are the only who can decide what feels good to you.
