I get that, but the rockauto carpet you also have to cut holes in....

It was a bit of a pain to work with (if I did it again I'd use a heat gun gently to help), but after it was in it just didn't insulate enough, sound or climate, even with the jute under it. I know that's not necessarily why people have it, but it was cold in winter and in summer it sweat a bit underneath (super humid where I am) Also it was slippery and no floormats work with it so whatever crap you drag in you have to vacuum or wipe out. If mine was a dedicated trail truck then I definitely get it, but as a daily and trip truck it didn't work for me. Plus side is that its cheap to try if you're curious enough to give it a go.

When I did the carpet kit I used my old carpet as a template, helped a lot.

Lmao some shops are what we call they do toe and out that’s it they don’t give a shit at all. One time I was told I need adjustable uppers the guy was pretty dumb. Ask around for better shops and hope for the best if at worse you can learn how to do it yourself it can be done not to hard

Ah that might be the deal. I don’t have an alarm but should have the keyless entry, I didnt think about that. I have 3rd gen 4 runner with a security system and the key fob was super easy to connect. The Tacoma I can’t seem to figure out.

If I had an alignment rack Id do it myself. lol I will change the struts from side to side and bring it back just for the fun of it. but still going to check the frame just for my own personal knowledge.

Made more progress this evening, on the sound damping. Got the driver side done with dynamat and dyna liner.

Also pulled my drivelines to get altered for my dual case setup:

Got pretty close last time I did it though with a plank of wood against the tire and some tape measured and math.

TBH I think the tech told you what you wanted to hear. They do make something called Dynapad that I am surprised he didn't try to sell you on, it basically is like a jute padding replacement. Something you can easily add in the future if you want since it doesn't get permanently glued down.

FWIW I have weather tech digital fits in over my vinyl. They don't move and aren't slippery. Without them I think I would wear the vinyl out much quicker.
