    Welcome to the crowd!!

    ....and good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!!

It's a balmy 30 here this morning. Heat wave!!

The bridge on our property is almost finished - they began backfilling the south side and started hauling the forms away. Hopefully they'll be done within a week.

    Stay safe!

It is so easy to get caught up in whatever is going on in life (or work) that you start putting yourself last on the list.

While being unselfish (or perhaps dedicated) is a generally good thing, sometimes we can just completely lose track of ourselves and the things that are really important in life. Time passes very quickly and before you know it you haven't done anything for yourself (or the people who really matter in your life) in a long time.

I think about things like maintaining your health. Most of us when we are young think health issues won't come our way, then, one day, they are here.

And if you could buy something (reasonable) what would it be and why do you want it??

I always wanted one of these, Triumph GT-6 Mk III, such a pretty car from any angle.
I couldn't get in and out of it with any dignity now.:pout:

The old Ford wagon I have isn't as sporty but much easier to live with.

The thing the gets me is I remember when you could buy a running, driving V8 Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Challenger, etc for $500. Naturally I had to buy practical cars at the time and couldn't afford a toy.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I think I bypassed the practical car stage.

I was a late bloomer when it came to cars I was working and had money back then Die Hard Chevy Person go figure .

Graduated to 4x4`s and more expense.

I’d love to get my hands on a 2nd Gen MR2.
I learned how to drive manual on a 1st Gen and there’s nothing quite like a Mid-Engine car when it comes to driving experience.

I settle for the FRS as a daily driver.

Fun but the MR2 is so much more superior.

    Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!!

Loving the talk of old /sporty cars. Got my driver's license in '71. My first car was a '63 Falcon followed a year later by a '66 Mustang and 2 years after that a '70 Boss 302 Fastback. Always wanted a Triumph TR6 but never was in the position to want to deal with a product electrically powered by The Prince of Darkness. Lynn had a Miata for a short period of time right before we got sent to Germany in '94 and we couldn't take two vehicles with us so we sold it and took our '90 4Runner. The Miata had/has an awesome transmission - short and snappy shifter - and we planned to buy another when we returned to the US in '97.......and then BMW announced the introduction of the BMW Z3 for '96. I test drove one in Wuerzburg, Germany and ordered one the next day.

Ordered it in April '96 and it was delivered on November 11th, '96. Unfortunately, I had deployed my battalion to Bosnia as part of the UN Peacekeeping force in September '96 so Lynn picked it up and sent me this picture when she got it back to our quarters.

    96 Z3 - 1st day pic.jpg

The only US model available in '96 had a 1.9l 4cyl. It was the Z3 that the engineers chose to build - 51/49 front/rear weight distribution makes it a dream to drive the twisty mountain roads of Bavaria....but it's not a rocket off the line and the US market clamored for more power so the added various versions of a 6 cyl culminating in the M Powered versions. I actually love the 1.9l - it is a throwback to the classic roadster and handles like a dream. On a straight away, you might get ahead but when we hit the corners, I may be digging into 2d gear but I'll hang on your tail forever. How do I know? I've been tested by Ms and motorcycles many times on roads like Tail of the Dragon, The Snake, The Diamondback and many others. :D:thumbsup:

She is still going strong - coming up on 100k (I have friends who have one with 435k on the original engine/transmission). I added a UUC short shift, new BMW wheels and drilled out the trunk on my own :)eek:) and installed the OEM luggage rack so we could take longer trips. I still get a warm, fuzzy feeling when I walk into the garage and see it sitting there 25 years later.

Funny story I learned how to drive manual in a 89 mr2. I worked at a gas station /mechanic shop when I was in high school and the senior tech car was the 89 mr2. He took me to the movie theater parking lot cause it was huge and I wouldn't hit anything. I was terrible lol. But fell in love wit driving stick shift cars. I was 16 at the time
