When they banned us all from going near the smoking area outside the cafe, I was first one in there. I got taken away by the authority and everyone went up and starting smoking. Early 90’s. Such a martyr

What cap/inlet is that? Its not the one that comes with the snorkel. I want to do the same, but was curious about rotating the inlet, this mushroom style would solve that!

I'm really loving the center console separation. I've got a spot for nitrile gloves that I always carry, headlamp and charger spot, extra socks, etc. Its keeping the new truck much more organized than the mess I had in my old dakota. (So far! Lol)

SCS wheels are easily some of the best looking wheels out there. Like you, I'd been playing the waiting game with them trying to get a set of Gen 5's. They'd drop and sell out in seconds. One time I got all the way to the payment page but the site glitched and I lost them. I called them out several times on their Instagram page, insinuating they were purposely driving up demand by slow rolling production and creating "limited releases." And whoever runs the page would either have some smartass comment, or just like my post but never deny it and generally just be unapologetic without any real dialog. The vibe was, "yeah our shit is awesome, everyone wants it, we're making shitloads of cash, fuck you, try harder." Haha.

Anyway, that's right when I stumbled upon Dustin and FN Wheels. FN has they're own inventory issues from time to time but nothing like SCS, and they aren't playing these cool guy IG games. Dustin was super responsive, answered several questions, and was genuinely very helpful. He even threw in a set of black center caps when I was undecided which color would look best. I love all their wheels but the set that I kept coming back to were the bronze retro style TRD wheel (FX Pro).

Don't get me wrong, I'd still slap a set of Gen 5's on my truck if they somehow fell in my lap but I'm super happy with my FN's. They're a fantastic wheel and I get compliments on them daily.

Your post made me go out and look for information.

Does it show HPR and RPM properly?
Can you provide a bit larger view of the mount in your vehicle for scale?
I am so seeing from user questions on another site that you can totally turn off the backlight. Just want to make sure that is true before I purchase one.

    Thanks for any information!

I want to do this but concerned that not having mud flaps will cause rocks/sand to beat it up. Are you seeing this with yours?

    Oh look, another mod....

I did this same upgrade about...10 months ago. It looks great. I don't have mud flaps either and so far...I can't see any rock chips on it. I'm sure some will get on there eventually, but it looks pretty durable and really looks great against the blue on my truck.

The initial frame issues with certain first gen Tacomas were because they were improperly treated and susceptible to rust, especially in certain areas of the US. Any first gen owner in these areas are well educated on these issues and how to treat rust. So you folks in non-salt areas are certainly lucky to not know the "struggle". All that being said, the Cosmoline product I attached is great stuff...for any metal application, to prevent/treat rust.

These are 17" and they're the FN Pro FX wheel (they call them "f(x) Pro" or something like that). They come in a 16" also but I think you have to call direct for those. They're currently backordered but it looks like inventory should be back up in a month or two for all color options soon.

Im pretty sure they should not ever touch. doesnt look like signs of rubbing together.
Let me ask you this...When was the last time you filled your grease fittings on your driveshaft? I had a similar issue with a "popping" noise with my lift. thought it was the SPC upper control arm ball joints failing. I did my oil change and usually greased the front fitting on my drive shaft. Realized that there was another one. i greased that other fitting up and a lot of black "water" came out while greasing. i havent heard a pop since. Maybe check that out also.

I built this slide in camp table mount for under my tent rack. I haven't made a video in a while, but I think this addition to the camping set up turned out great. TbT
