I was informed that this was the guitar thread where everyone was at, so just adding me couple that I own. Ibanez Gio, Washburn Dime 333 and Jackson JS32 RR. All are as they come from the factory, aside from the Washburn that I had a tech guy work the fretboard and whatnot a while back. I sort of want to upgrade it to the SD Dime pickups, but a friend told me to upgrade the Jackson instead. So I'm not sure what I'll do. Any suggestions? I kind of just want to get a new guitar in general, like a Legator JD6 or N6X but it's a lot to invest, when I'm not that great of a player lol. So thought maybe I could satisfy the urge for something new with an upgrade to 1 of the ones that I currently own.

What part of it are you wanting to upgrade? Tuners, pick ups, tremolo?

I would say on both guitars the pickups would probably be the area that would make the most sense. I mostly play metal, so always looking to get heavier. They each have a licensed Floyd Rose (under their own name,) which isn't terrible but I realize also not the best. But they haven't given me issues.

I'm not too knowledgeable on all pick ups, passive or active or both in one. I've been a fan of EMG's personally and have them in all of mine. Been toying with swapping to Fluence, but people here with more experience can help out with that. I'm just narrow minded in that field.

Ah, the Licensed floyd, I had one on a Jackson Warrior... damn over a decade ago. It's good for with it is, I was just lazy and wanted a more simple set up so I sold it.

I've owned 4-5 Deans. DimeOflage, Dime camo, ML and baby ML.
I upgraded the Dean Dime Camo to the SD Dime 59 set and it really took the sound up a couple notches.

Ya I hear you. If I do get a Legator or something else, I was going to go that route to not have the Floyd Rose this time. And also, those come with the modern style pick-ups (which I think require a battery.) Just be cool to try something different, but it's a lot to drop.

Looks amazing. And yes, that was the set-up I was looking at.

Off monday for holiday so I'm taking today off for a nice long weekend. With 6-8" snow/ice coming sunday, I figured it would be a good weekend to start another studio project. Maybe do something simple stupid to ease back in.
What's everyone elses plans for the weekend?

Was going to hang out with a group of friends, but got a sick fiancee, so probably won't make it to that. Do some stuff around the house , wash the truck.

Dude, i've been putting off on the refi forever. I'm still at 5% and I know it's going to go up very soon. Need to get on that asap.

for real, I mean we just bought our new (to us) house in Dec 2020. Got a great rate at 2.3% but really just wanting to take off the PMI since we didn't have 20% to put down.

Now our home is worth more than the percentage we owe to be able to do this. So saving a few hundred a month would be great to not have to pay for something if we don't have to. Or refi for a 15 yr note and see where our payments would be, even if it's a bit more than what we pay now taking off the PMI might be something to look into.

Yea, I just got off pmi last year. I bought my house in 2010, litterally the last week of the Obama $8k tax credit. So I guess you have to pay off a certain percentage of your mortgage to get off pmi. But idk who I heard it from but someone told me all you have to do is refi with a different bank. I'm on for 30 yrs w 11 years down. May go to a 15 myself.

Yeah, that's what I've heard, you have to pay 20% of the sale of the house to not have to pay for PMI. I've heard the other way as well, buy then refi with another place. Idk? I just know we didn't have $70k in the bank when we bought

Lol, my old house literally a 4-5 minute walk from my house now, I bought in April of 2010 and got the $8k tax credit. I was 23 at the time and really wasn't sure how it all worked, then a few weeks later got the check in the mail. Score

Yep, didnt even have to wait till tax season. My first time homebuyer experience was really a very good experience compared to some nightmares I've heard if. I'm tempted to sell. Paid $135k in 2010 and now worth upwards of $250k. It's twice the house I need but I didn't purchase it for just myself back then, it just worked out that way.
