It looks like if they apply the TSB, yes, they can leave constant CC functioning, in fact, it’s part of the TSB to verify that constant CC is working.

If they just disabled the PCS/DRCC as you asked, then it’s a hit/miss thing. Nobody gave it a thought until it didn’t work.

I think there's directions floating around somewhere on how to do this in tech stream. If you can't work it out with the dealer/Toyota you could try buying a used sensor and give it a go yourself.

It's not too late. Then you can post on the F150 forum and complain about how often it's in for warranty work. And btw, F150s have PCS also.

The salesman isn't the one who is gonna perform service work for you, so they're honestly gonna say anything to get the sale from you.

I get your frustration, but that's just how sales people are in the Toyota realm at least. It's like asking them how kdss works and expecting them to answer that correctly. Shoot they probably don't even know what a sway bar is in the first place.

Your best option now is to just to work it out with the service department. They're people too so hopefully they'll understand.

Ford's are starting to come with radar safety stuff standard now too, meaning it'll be unavoidable across their whole lineup soon. I wouldn't be surprised if radar sensors became a requirement by law in the next few years, it's been in the talks for a while now.

Yeah I thought OP had paid to get the radar disabled permanently. I was trying to wrap my head around that, but he says he didn't pay anything so my comment was off base.

I've heard of them disabling the radar when they installed lifts and stuff, but holy hell if they touched something like that on my truck without me asking because I lifted it... I would be extremely unpleasant to the service manager to say the least. Good thing I never have to worry about that and only have to imagine

I already have proved you wrong lol, why do it again?
I agree upkeep and taxes, etc cost money. However, you will pay for that on new vehicle too so it's a wash.
I made $2K above what I paid three years ago. It had four oil changes in that time so $320.
It needed tires so add another $1K to the positive.

I left the dealership with a new truck and cash in my pocket. I got a less expensive truck so it did not eat any gains.
I have no idea what the future holds, only the past. With that statement I know how it was in 2016. I know how it is now so I took advantage and sold my truck for a true profit after three years and 45K miles. The new truck might get sold too as it is worth what I paid for it six months ago.

It seems your issue is with the particular dealer who did the work and not Toyota. Are they a multi-line dealer? I certainly don't blame Chevrolet when my local Toyota/Chevy dealer is a twit. Instead of allowing your emotions to color your perception, take your truck to a competent dealership.

Hey John, had a similar issue in Bethel. Went from 1994 s10 to a 2018 Taco. Went with SR 4X4. I was not aware there was such a thing as PCS.

If I forgot to turn PCS off I was in for a big surprise while flying down the frozen Kusko river!

Now I live in MI, I bought a similar Taco. Still do not like PCS but it is not a danger as it was in AK.

I would have deleted it but was not going to waste time and money putting it on a barge and sending it to the dealership. When I left AK I sold it to one of the two mechanics in town and he fixed it up for the bush.

Members here might not understand the issues bush drivers have with PCS. It is more than an inconvenience.

In hindsight, he could have turned PCS off when going into the bush. I have a note on my dash to disable PCS when towing. It’s a pain but a better alternative than what he’s now facing.

Yes, in hindsight I would have left the blasted thing alone. And if the dealer had forewarned me as to this issue then I would have said forget it, its a small inconvenience to have to push and hold a button.....!
Interesting development today. I have been trying to see if I can get it to work and typically I get a "cruise control malfunction, visit your dealer" screen. Today I tried it before I started driving and lo and behold CSC is working! If you push and hold the button before you are moving 20+ MPH the CCS will work....! Once you shut it off while moving it will not work again until you pull over and stop the engine and restart.....! Is that some crazy stuff, certainly makes me think the dealer really does not know how these systems work?

I get why they do it and I am ok with these systems, on some levle the end user should be able to turn on/off as they are thankfully not government mandated.

I have some other complaints about this vehicle, but maybe I should start another thread or maybe all you Tacoma fanboys dont want to hear it....! LOL

CSC should work on either side of the programming. Only adaptive cruise should be affected.

I dealt with Kendall in Anchorage when I lived in AK. Lower 48 peeps have no idea how bad a dealer can be when they have a captive market.
Kendall Toyota gives car dealers bad name.
But it is everywhere in AK. Morrison Audi/VW/Porsche/Isuzu dealer crushed the pan gasket on my AT and could not care less about it.
