Great idea, I wil see if I can get this wired into the haltech since it since being updated with the dual maps now.
How do you sync a generic temperature sensor with the haltech?

I have to run the methonal regardless for summer. I saw my intake temperature hit 200 degrees in boost without the methonal and that’s not good.
Winter I don’t really need it because of the cooler temperatures

That's what I don't know. I assume that the adapter harness that you bought with the Haltech still has the Maf/Temp sensor plugged in? You could always do some research and see which wire in the OEM wiring harness is the temp sensor. OEM and Haltech wiring diagram?
If you can get enough fuel into the cylinders post supercharger, you could cool the intake charge enough to eliminate the use for the methanol all together. Most cars straight from the factory do not come with methanol injection. They increase fuel to inhibit knock. It is all about the knock. No knock, no worries.

I am not certain but think I read that an adaptive (on the fly) tune is possible on the 2500 model haltech.

What does it adjust? Long Term fuel trims? Short term fuel trims? Long term fuel trims based off the map sensor? Long term fuel trims based off the VE tune with out a temp sensor? The best possible scenario is to have a MAF sensor and VE tune to match perfectly. For 2 reasons. 1. the ecu knows how much air and at what temp is going into the engine. The tuner sets VE to a predetermined number based off the wideband AFR for the ECU to try to match at any air density or temp. 2. If the MAF fails on a family vacation, the VE tune will kick in and get you home.

Gabe gave me a quick update that the temp sensor should be getting its temp information from the actual temperature going into the engine after it’s been compressed by the supercharger as this temperature can be 50-100 degrees hotter than the air at the MAF.
Any thoughts on that? Just curious

:notsure: I was just relating what I recall reading on the snp website. You might want to call them to ask these questions.

You can. So he wants the Haltech to adjust a setting/s based off the supercharger discharge temps. So the Haltech will take the discharge temp and adjust the fuel trims? The timing? Retard the timing when a certain temp is reached such as 120 degrees to prevent knock? Richen a portion of the fuel table to accommodate the increased intake temp to cool the air to prevent knock. I wonder if you could monitor both, intake temp and supercharger discharge temp.

I don't know either. That is the beautiful thing about the Haltech unit, it is almost infinity adjustable.

I assume you are not running a 7th injector? It is a good way to cool the intake air, pre-S/C. It has been dyno'd that carb's or TBI make more power S/C than port type EFI because of this pre-cooling and lower IAT's (check Richard Holdener's youtube vids)

He is/was running methanol injection, much more effective at cooling than the 7th injector

    Another quick update,
I have probably around 5k plus miles or so on the haltech,
The haltech is definitely the silver bullet for a perfect tune and more usable power.

Its pretty much all dialed in and using the methanol for reducing the supercharger heat.
The haltech will run without needing methanol as fuel if one wants too.

with the haltech tune the AFR are perfect ALL the time regardless if at high rpm’s or low rpm’s.
With the haltech you can’t make the engine ping in any situation for me at least.

I have a dyno setup for the 8th of January.

    I should have a
    1) before dyno graph from a year ago
    2) new dyno with no methanol
    3) new dyno with methanol

these will be laying down on each other for comparisons.

Again the new found power is the new useable power curve that you feel right away and continues up the rpm’s with perfect AFR numbers.
Not necessarily the top peak power at 5000rpms.
My rev limiter is at 5500,
Some people are going to the 6k place.

I too recently had the Haltech installed and tuned and it simply turns the truck into a monster. Running the 2.1” pulley, no ping whatsoever. It pulls so hard with 34” tires and 4.56 gearing that it feels like I will break the axle.

Did you set your tune up with methanol?

My butt dyno says the methonal is helping the power when spraying,
Will see exactly on Saturday with and without

No, I don’t have methanol. I’m sure it extracts the power available out of any setup, so no doubt you will see an improvement with the methanol. My guess is that it would be able to extract power from a stock truck too.

If this is still an issue, I would recommend identifying the wires and twisting them into pairs ("twisted pairs") where there is no shielding. This will cut back on noise.

Forgot to add that this was fixed.
apparently it was a firmware issue so a new firmware fixed the cranshaft sensor issue I had.
So I have no issues with the crankshaft sensor now

Update with dyno with 91 octane only, No methanol.
    At 6000 feet.
The haltech is 90 percent tuned, we ran short on time to finish the top rpm section and the methanol switch and I had a dyno already setup.
So the top rpm’s are just a bit soft, not fully tuned.

The results are in and what you can expect.

The haltech is definitely the SILVER BULLET for the supercharger tune and probably the turbo.
My max hp at 5000 rpm’s and torque will be pretty close to the same with the supercharger with the stock ECU and Haltech AT 5000 rpm’s.

    BUT THE HUGE DIFFERENCE IS,

The new power band you get at 2500 to 4500 rpm’s.
This is typical where we run our motors at probably 80-90 percent of the time anyways,
So the top rpm’s hp is not really that important here.

The graph in green is the stock ECU a year ago
The graph in blue Is the Haltech ECU today.

The AFR, torque and hp curves are super clean and linear now.

The torque gains are as much as 60 pounds of more torque 2k-4k rpm’s,WOW!

AT around 3k rpm’s the stock ECU is at 239 pounds of torque and the Haltech is at 298

At around 3k rpm’s the stock ECU is at 142 hp and the haltech is at 177hp

The HP gains are as much as 35 more horsepower 2k-4k rpm’s.

The sweet spot is 3k-4k she pulls so hard with the extra 60 foot pounds in any gear!

Gas mileage is about the same

Redline was raised a bit too

I’m super happy with this upgrade and special thanks to Gabe For making these available for the 3.4 motor and his tune.
It definitely turns the 3.4 supercharger motor into the beast it can only get through this HALTECH setup.
At 680,000 miles my truck has never run so well or had so much useable power.

This was also done using my stock injectors, some of the 3.4 this will pass and some it might not depending on your motor.
