If that was the case he wouldn't be using his phone as the key. So I still think someone is stretching a story to hate on a tesla.

    Derp! Good point.

    Ok... Another scenario...

I was on a military base a while back and they informed me that if you had a recent gen Ford (between years xxxx and xxxx), don't bring it near the power plant on base. I guess something gets screwed up with the transponder in the key and the extremely high voltage and some individuals couldn't open or start their trucks. Had to tow them away from the power plant, before they could get it started again.

When electric cars get more advanced and the chips implanted in our brains start the car for us, we are going to look back at these dark times and remember the struggles of life,

Maybe Meso needs to work on a new PTS button feature to work like "the useless box"

Back in the day you had to push start the entire car (with a clutch) or park on a hill.

I really like PTS however reading about the theft risk, I too would prefer an old fashioned key.
Convenience wise, PTS is incredible however.

Just turn the key off... hold the lock button down and press the unlock button twice.

But that aside, statistically, I'd bet keyed ignitions make up more thefts than PST... I've also witnessed many keyed ignitions break (Chevy)... I've never heard of a broken PTS button.

It’s no biggie - but after having keyless - I do prefer my key.
PBS is a marketing gimmick that is over and done with…

Similar to the silly push button parking brake that is featured as an improvement these days. - how cool is that! :angrygirl:

Now THAT is a dumb way to do an e brake!

    - it’s coming soon!

We are all concerned over vehicle theft so much has anyone thought about Wheel theft? What are you using for locking lug nut? Do you sleep at night knowing anyone can buy a universal key to unlock any lug nut? I use Gorilla Lug nuts with their locks, I sleep better at night .

Wheels? Get outta here. I'm more concerned with someone rolling up and removing my steel bumpers and coil overs at this point https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/stolen-front-pelfreybilt-bumper.647689/

You can disable your remote from transmitting its radio frequency by pressing and holding the lock key then pressing the unlock key 2 times. You will have to take your fob out and actually press any lock or unlock key to reactivate it. Otherwise your door/push start will not work.
You can also buy a RF blocking bag from Amazon for $12 (my spare stays in the bag).

All this over push to start.
FYI, I prefer a key. And in the Tacoma it's on the dash. Old School!

I just don’t think that this is an issue. Cars were stolen every day long before the existence of push to start.
