Does your 2015 have the backup camera view in the mirror or in the HU?

It has the camera view in the head unit. Sorry I didn’t add that info in.

OK, If you read back in this thread, you will find some posts about making the camera work when it the backup camera was already wire to the HU. I think there is a wiring harness you can get that will allow the connection without any splicing. I think it is this one https://www.amazon.com/PAC-CAMTY12-...gid=pla-570478023311&ref=&adgrpid=62412137260 but I am not sure.

I'm currently trying it out. It is pretty straightforward. It doesn't have all the different customization options that some of the other launchers have, but it looks factory and it is very easy to set up, and has enough customization that it should suit just about anyone.

It has a lot more customization than I first realized. It's nice to be able to change the theme colors (main and line color), but when you long press on each "button" it gives you the chance to rename, choose an app icon, and select an app to associate. Also, you can swipe one of the outer, smaller buttons to the center and it'll replace the clock/Toyota logo, etc.

Yeah, from what I can tell it's basically a properly developed version of what I built by hand years ago. In the past, I was using an app that allowed you to build transparent widgets. So I'd build a rectangle over a static image/background and then you associate the widget with a specific app you want launched. It was tedious but worked great.

I'm saying that on the joying wire harness that connects to the Tacoma wire harness. One of those connectors has an attached yellow rca connector. That rca plugs into the joying headunit

I think that one is the backup camera input (on my harness, it is labeled "camera in"). You plug the output from your backup camera into that. I think you need a special connector to convert to the Tacoma's backup camera to RCA. My camera is in the mirror, so I don't have that connection and can't say for sure what is required.

No special connector needed for my 2014 jbl with cam in head unit. It worked directly out of the joying box.

Cool. I wasn't sure. The pictures I've seen of the JBL harness looks like it has a connector that plugs into the factory connector with the video line in it. But not having one, I wasn't sure.

Update on the knob issue... I can get it to happen quite often, enough that it has become very annoying. I contacted Joying about it and they have been quite responsive. They had me video it happening, had me check some settings and try a few other things. They are sending me a new "metal box" but not the display. From what they have had me try, I think that they think it has something to do with the steering wheel controls. Oddly, steering wheel controls work completely fine. <sarcasm on>No way it could be a dodgy knob... Noooooo...<sarcasm off> Well, I'll know if it is the "metal box" in a week or two when the new one arrives.

Aside from the volume issue, I really like this HU. The user interface could have been better, but I've switched to AGAMA and like it. There are some other things I would like for it to do, but those are minor.

Just ordered a 9” no knob for my 2012.

My backup camera is displayed on the rear view mirror. Is the general consensus that it’s worth connecting the camera to the head unit? Or is routing an HD camera like the one Joying sells a better option?

I read through the sub and sounds like the stock camera is pretty low res/blurry on the HU but I didn’t see anyone mention whether the HD camera actually displayed as HD video on the screen.

So with the Joying unit, you are able to run Gaia GPS when no cell service is available? that was one of my main wish list items, does it use a satellite connection or do you download the entire map for that region on to internal storage, Thanks for all the awesome answers so far, Love this site

I have not tried it, but I believe Gaia is supported. Here is a youtube review where he says he uses Gaia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBSUbQyoQpE&t=95s You do have to download a map of the region. The Joying HU has it's own GPS antenna and doesn't require a cell connection so long as your GPS app supports offline maps.

With that launcher, were you able to set the phone? When I try, I can't find the phone app

The phone app is called "Bluetooth" it allows you to set up bluetooth connections and has the phone dialer.

Does anyone know if there is a way to control the volume of the phone ring? On my unit it sounds like it is playing at max volume. Almost made me drive off the road the first time someone called me.
