Everyone I've talked to seems to think that 143K is pretty impressive for my truck, regardless of whether or not I have the 2" lift...

Random questions about moving to and living in Costa Rica...

Did you have to take a road test when you applied for a Costa Rican driver's license and/or converted your Canadian provincial one to a Costa Rican one? How often do you have to renew your license in Costa Rica?

Is there actually good service/support for Tacos in the country since they are sold new there?

No road test required, and the license here has to be renewed every 3 years.
But, first we had to have our Provincial driver's licenses translated into Spanish by an authorized translator.
One of the strange things is that your foreign driver's is only valid for 90 days, but you can only get a Costa Rican driver's license after 91 days in the country. So you have to figure out a way to get to one of the offices without driving there.

The aftermarket here isn't nearly as big as the U.S. or Canada. You can buy or order parts from abroad, but the shipping and duties to get them make them more expensive.

There is a large Totota Dealership in San Jose, if you want OEM parts.

It's almost like it's entrapment, trying to get people to get pulled over; Though how are they gonna know if you drove yourself to the DMV (or whatever it's called in Costa Rica)?

I know. I think it's just one of those thing's that they've never thought about changing. Many people just take the chance and drive there. Others will take a taxi or whatever.

Can an American exchange a US license for a Costa Rican one without taking a test? The one thing I don't like about Costa Rica, based on what you've told me, is the strict gun laws.

An American can get a Cista Rican driver's license as well, using the same process. They don't take your foreign license, they'll just issue you a local one.
You can buy firearms here. You just need to go through a course and exam. Plus a few other things, l believe.
Canada's system is just as bad. Worse under the present regime. I know as l was a gun owner but had to sell them when l moved.

South Carolina lets anyone who is of age and not a felon own a handgun, but you have to prove your competency on a range and take a written test before you get a carry permit. I have relatives in Myrtle Beach and they all have carry permits.

Once they drop this mask mandate on commercial flights, maybe I'll come visit you...

I heard that if a gun gets stolen from a house and used in a crime in Canada, the gun owner is just as guilty as the perpetrator for not properly securing their weapons.

The storage laws have led to people being charged with Unsafe Storage if their firearms were stolen. Even if they complied with the letter of the law.
It's a mess. They force you to hire a lawyer and fight it in court, even if the charges shouldn't have been laid in the first place.
It happens a lot to lawful gun owners.

It started as rain then switched over to snow and piled up quickly, my County ended up on a Level 2 Snow Emergency.

I might not be going to the Carlisle Truck Nationals this year, on account of a family reunion that is likely going to be in California; I might stick up the proverbial middle fingers and skip the family reunion, because getting to California in a timely manner requires getting on a plane, and getting on a plane requires wearing a mask...

I CANNOT wear a mask for that long, and I also cannot deal with assholes who decide to get in my business because I am not wearing the aforementioned mask properly!

Hopefully things change by then, but people have been getting booted off flights for not wearing a mask correctly. Something to think about. Maybe drive out…stop in Colorado and we can go rock crawling.

That's the biggest thing I'm afraid of; I can wear a mask, but not nonstop...

Remember the Mission BBQ incident back in June 2020? A repeat of that would not go well on an A320 at nearly 40,000 feet!

One of my plans was just to eat nonstop on the flight, while also politely but shamelessly playing the autism/sensory issue card; I hate doing the latter, but if it means making things less of a pain in the ass for me, I'll do it!
