any spring under converters round hear?

i'm going to head over to ruff stuff since he's a couple miles away and pick one of these up. Anybody know if this will work for a 98 taco 5 4 cyl lug 8.4" housing?

edit: i just called and they said it would work with a little extra fill weld as it'd only be an eith of an inch too wide per side.

i wan't a 10-12" shackle and could only find total chaos's 300 dollar shackle... anybody know of a cheaper one?

Just got a chevy 63" leaf pack with a beefball 6" shackle for 50 bones but this shackle is way too short for the travel i'm looking for.

 

if you want a cheaper shackle you'll prob have to make your own

98 2wd 5 lug 2rz single cab taco w/ a downy mid travel kit currently up front. I am not looking forward to dealing w/ the 5 lug weaknesses but the truck was only 400 bucks and all it needs is a new cyl head and ex header. Which is a lot i know... My buddy who owned it before has already broken and replaced 3 lower ball joints, i don't see a way around preventing that unless i spend way too much money. I'm trying to keep this project under $1,500, have some fun in the dunes then maybe sell and make some money. Or i'll keep it if i like how the motor performs after the head swap and install some ford equal length ibeams up front. I'll get some pics soon, its a sweet looking truck w/ only 130k miles on the clock, 31's, flowmaster exiting on the side, body lift (that has to come off so i can adjust camber).

 

yeah man, I have lower ball joints on my total chaos kit... i hate it. too sketchy for me, i'm going to have a custom kit made. i've already had an issue, and that was going 5 MPH over a speed bump... i'd hate to have another issure while going 50 over whoops

OK I'll get pics as soon as i can. my friend broke one ball joint landing off a jump, one driving down the street going maybe 30 and i forgot the story of the third but it has me quite weary of how hard i can bonz it in the dunes. Hence why i'm trying to spend very little at first and if i like how the rear end performs on the cheap, and the motor/tranny/geared n locked axle feel i'll take the fab work to the next level and beam it.

 

what's your deal with front line fab? That canteliver rear bed/cage set up is quite nice. i'd love to see a video of that set up in action...i want that tubular rear shackle you have pivoting through the frame. How much for a nine or 10 incher?

 

i'm just a customer at Frontline. they are a cool bunch of dudes, especially Karl, the owner. he makes some killer shit. i'm going to have him build me a new front kit similar to the one on the black tacoma



my shackles are the total chaos 9" mounted above the frame with the frame notched for clearnace on up travel. we thought we would try something different, keeps ride height low. it turned out great

the rear canti kit is super nice in person, he put it above the bed so people could see the quality of the work... all the suspension on the truck is custom so it's kind of a show off truck to show their skills and quality

So the rear end on your taco has been swapped out then? Cause a 98 5 lug should be a 7.5" and already SUA.

Also its not really the BJ you gotta watch on the 5 luggers, its the "Lower Control arm 3" or bj bracket. I broke 4 of these in a year all while on the road. Cheap POS cast part the Toyota shoulda never used. TC kit did a good job of eliminating it although I still do want to ditch the BJ itself.

 

5 lug should already be spring under. x2 on what Siebler said, bring extra ball joint brackets.

Well i finally got my buddy to bring the truck home to me today. I didn't know it was spring under till...now. Sorry to waste your time guys.

This thing was beat hard and put away wet... i have a lot of work to do but it was only 400 bucks so f-it.

i'll start a new thread now and post all pics and update as i build it.

from what i've been researching the 7.5" is a front axle diameter... My rear should be an 8 inch right?



another pic of my oddball mid travel front kit from downy. i don't know how 8" of travel can be called mid travel, i don't know why people would even waste money on such dismal numbers. i get 12 from my cherokee for half the cost. i think i'm going to i beams. any ibeam converters on this site?

 

beams would be sweet, but i'm almost 100% sure there isn't anybody here w/ a beamed front end on their toyota

Nope 5 lug tacos are a 7.5" rear. But yes the T100's and maybe some others are a 7.5" Front axle as well.

Also, TC LT Kit on a 5 lug taco is only 11.5" I believe (never measured but thats what they say) so id say 8" would be called Mid for this truck.
