why do people like to back into a parking space?

I don't get it... why?

 

Much easier to exit the parking space. Give it a try.

Edit: and backup camera allows for us long beds to get in where we fit in...

 

Its fitting that the first two responses come from guys with long beds. It is much easier to cut a tight angle when trying to squeeze into the parking spot in reverse. Also getting out is nice as you can see if any cars are coming before you stick your ass out there.

 

Easier to get into tight spaces that way.

Safer to pull back out into the aisle.

Easier to leave in a hurry

Habit from MIL/LE.

 

I like to back in when I'm staying a long time or in a small parking lot....Never know what idiot is gunna make getting out a challenge. Being able to pull out vs back out is easier for me.

yup for sure. i've almost been hit a few times trying to back out of spaces on roads. if i can back into a space i'll normally do it.

 

HMMM! interesting about the easier maneuverability with the turning wheels in the back.. like a forklift..

Yes I suppose that does make sense.

 

I back up all the time, every time.

I do it often too as security...i'll back up into a wall so no one can get to my tailgate. (i have a soft tonneau, so this keeps things *relatively* safe)

 

I like backing it up, it makes Pulling out is safer! giggity!

 

Backing in is the best way to make the DCLB fit midget parking spaces on the first try .

 

Easier to pull out of the parking space later.

 

Plus no one really likes you....

 

Its easier for us DBLBs to back in the space rather than pull in. At work I have to back into my parking space in order for me to see the security signal to come in. I guess its easier and I'm used to always backing in.

 

It takes some skill, but don't fell bad, you'll learn some day.

HAHA I'm just not capable of pulling into a parking spot straight so i find it easier when I back in. I'm the idiot you see pulled in at a 45 Degree angle taking up 2 spots if I dont Back in.

 

I also use alot of the parking garages in the Washington DC area. Many of these parking management groups try to stuff as many cars into the garage without blocking people in so backing up for me just makes it easier to get out of some of these tight spaces and I usually do not have to worry about backing into someone even with my backup camera.

 

backing in is waay easier than pulling in forward. Plus its easy to get out and it shows the pretty front end of my truck.
