10" sub not fitting in 10" enclosure

So I ordered an enclosure for my single 10" pioneer champion pro sub. Its supposed to fit all 10" subs. But when I set my sub down into it, it still has about an inch left until its fully seated. If I screw it down, with that space there, will I encounter any problems??

 

Ya ur gonna need to make the hole bigger. Can be done with basic tools if you got em.

 

Well is the hole not big enough or is the sub hitting the back of the box? And NO! do not screw it down until it's fully seated in the box.

 

The hole needs to be bigger because its not letting it sink down enough. Also, 2 sides of the sub hit the notch on each side of the box. 10" my ass. The depth is fine it still has room in the back.

Yeah your mounting depth is fine your just going to have to shave at little at a time until the sub fits.

 

Ah that pisses me off. Just use regular sand paper sheets or what? I don't wanna make it uneven so I'm guessing it will take awhile..

Well a wood file would be faster just make sure your taking off the wood evenly take your time and it shouldn't be that hard. If you don't trust your self with a file get some 50 grit sand paper and sand it by hand.

 

You'll be there for a month with sandpaper. I've had to deal with this problem a bunch of times....Peel/cut some of the carpet back and use a jigsaw, the hole doesn't need to be perfect/pretty you just need it to be sealed. Jig will work just take your time.

 

Go buy a rasp. Like $5 and it will save you a month.

 

Hmmm. Considering I have no tools ill probably just go buy a file.

 

rethink that depending on how much you have to take off. If you don't have a jig do what ^ he said. Rasp will work better then a file.

 

Can I get a rasp at home depot? Never heard of it.
Edit: ah scratch that. I know what that is just considered it a file.

 

Yeah I got mine at HD. Mine has a file on the back and a rasp on the other side.
