If people can offroad in a miata on mud tires, then you can offroad in any tacoma.

You should defiantly test drive the Nissan and the Honda Ridgeline. Buy what meets your needs and budget. As mentioned, any 4X4 Tacoma is capable.

Is the Tacoma right for you?

    All weather.

KO2s impressed me in the snow this time. They even did great on my 6.5 hour drrive trough snowy mountain passes. My duratracs were a bit better though.

Funny thing is, my buddy has trd off-road that’s in the pic. He is running dedicated winters and got stuck twice. I did not get stuck at all.

Sounds good. I’m in the process of deciding what my next new shoes will be and I’m now down to KO2s or Duratracs.

Appreciate the recommendation from a BC winter driver. :)

If you can’t swap over running one of the chewy Duratrac/ToyoCT/K02 options will work, they won’t be as good and dedicated winters though. I’ve run through a set of Blizzak DmV1 in 9 seasons and replaced them with DmV2 last winter. No hesitation to go over any of the passes if they are open, and able to get out of the way of other drivers with all seasons..

Anytime. If i was looking for the best all weather, definitely duratracs but Ko2s do have better road manners when not snowing.

I was looking at those toyos CTs, looks like a very good tire. But I believe it doesn’t have the 3 peak symbol?

It does have 3 peak but they are quite rigid. I don't personally like them that much.

So far everyone we've driven has poor ice and packed snow performance even brand new. Especially compared to the AT3.

I also don't care for how they look. But for abuse and service roads/offroading they are a good choice.

They do look like a very good off-road tire, comparable to duratracs since they are both hybrid tires.

I have a base model 4x4 with a 2" ish lift. And 265/70/16's. No traction control or crawl system or anything fancy. Only thing limiting me a little bit is the lack of a locking diff. BUT it isn't too difficult to get a whole axel or add a locker etc. We have possibly the best trucks for off road mods. Tons of options

Well according to Toyota, if you wanna keep your warranty, you can’t even take your trd off-road off pavement. So there is that.

The departure, break over and approach angles on that Yaris are better than stock Tacoma hah.

I would say it all depends on what state you live in right? I would call your local park rangers see if you can take a non off road trim tacoma off road see what they say.

I'd be all over one of these.

    I'd need different wheels though.

@pickuptruck I have TRD Sport. I spent past Saturday cleaning barns and old lumber from around the farm. Towed a loaded 5'x8' trailer over mud, grass and 8" deep mulch. Never needed a locker. What I did need were the 360 cameras in the Advance Tech package to weave between the stumps, pears, cherries, paw-paws and blueberries.
Taco never got stuck, 4Hi is all I needed.
TRD OR is a better bang for a buck than Sport (more electronic gizmos and a locker), but I could not find an OR with the options I wanted. I am very happy with my Sport.

I would say more than half of "Off-roading" is the driver, not the rig.

Standard open diff 4x4 and good A/T tires will get you 95% of the places you want to go. A locker would be very nice to have and can be added if you really want the piece of mind.
