I agree with @Torspd, it would be awesome to have dipstick! My climate gets equally as cold and not having to mess with the correct procedure just to check fluid quality or level would be great.

Fact is, some people operate with heavier loads or abuse more frequently than others. This would make it easier to do a drain and fill periodically to refresh the fluid. You can argue that trans fluid can last hundreds of thousands of miles. But for that simply isn't true. Larger/heavier tires, camping gear, towing, high loads off-road, power adders, high temps, etc. all play a roll. Many do not have a scan gauge (including myself) to monitor the temps and sometimes it may be difficult to avoid constant high fluid temps. Plus the temps don't tell the whole story, especially if you don't monitor it frequently. For those reasons it is a great option if this works!

If it ends up costing about less than $250 then that is not a bad deal for the ease of maintenance and ability to check fluid level quickly no matter the outside temps or conditions.

I tried e mailing the TEK PAK company back in 2016 when everyone was having trouble with low fluid . TEK PAK makes aftermarket filler tubes and I have used the company for many of their products over the years .
Needless to say , I never got a reply from them at the time .I even asked all the members here to jam their e mail box full of requests for a filler tube and level indicator
With this said , I can see the need for an aftermarket fill tube in situations as mentioned above .
Here is the short thread from back in 2013 . I Polled the members to vote as well

No inside contacts you can pressure to get a response?

If not, what a shitty way to treat a long-standing customer such as yourself.

That would seem to require drilling the pan to mount the aftermarket fill tube? I suppose that would be OK if the kit were well engineered.

Yup, we have a wide range of trans users and abusers here. For my suburban truck with no towing the original fluid was pristine when I drained it to fix my trans cooling line leak which didn't happen too far off from the 100k miles fluid replacement recommendation. It would probably have been good to go for another 100k with my use profile but I can easily see how those who tow might need to do this more often. BTW, I also have a ScanGage2 and leave TFT displayed all the time. You guys who tow, you really should have one of these.

Yes , I have contacts through my supplier but not directly to Tek Pak . My supplier sells their products to me .
That being said , the guys at Teck PaK do not know me on a personal basis .
Passing along a request to my supplier would be useless .
This is why you guys have to show a demand for the product through e mail or trashing their website with thousands of requests

Stop It! Don’t go down that rabbit hole like the guy who plows snow with no shoes. When you have a leak, you fix it. Exchanging oil pan parts is not a solution.

LOL... if you are on the road in East BF or wherever you CAN'T fix the leak. Whereas if you could pour a quart in you could get home and THEN fix the leak. What part of this don't you understand?

I'm going to install 7 dip stick tubes onto my pan with one going directly into the cab so I can check it while I'm driving just for you.

Silly question as this is my first Toyota, and I don't have a lot of knowledge about other models; aside from a 2000 Corolla that was a former GF's car that I did all the work on.

We have the same engine and transmission as the 4 runner.... What about the exhaust manifolds/cats; are they the same? If not, that could be a contributing factor as to why we have no dipstick.

I don’t understand how a dipstick is easier than the check hole. And let’s say you check it with the dipstick and it’s overfilled. Then you’d be using the check hole to drain some off anyway.

It's easier to check and add some without having to climb under the truck. Overfilling can be fixed with a length of hose stuffed down the dip stick tube.

Agree it's not really necessary for routine checks... but having one makes it possible to add fluid if you develop a leak so you can drive it home (or to a shop) to fix it.
