Appointment wasn't until Monday but tire shop got me in early today for new shoes! Ridge Grapplers 285/70/17.

 

Finally got the new license plates in the mail. Made a custom license plate frame from some old broken composite hockey sticks.

Also installed the 3 piece ScreenProtech. No pictures of this since it’s practically invisible.
Now off to change the oil in my wife’s 4Runner.

 

How much are these running (per tire)?
I may be on the lookout for tires in the near future.

 

I was staring at that for a hot minute trying to figure out what the frame was -- then I read it -- that's sweet! I'm in CA (see the Kings hitch -- dunno if you are also). I've been waiting for my custom plates almost six months now... apparently you're lucky if you get them in 9 months they're so backed up from Covid.

Yes, South Orange County but grew up a Kings fan. I was privileged enough to have the luxury of DMV and dealership miscommunications about my plates. Still fighting about the registration too.

 

As a CA state employee... I do not envy you in that endeavor. I wish you the best of luck battling the behemoth.

 

You are correct on the scenario, AC on, recirc off and window or sunroof cracked or open. I had a 2008 model as well. Every other vehicle I have owned ALWAYS had recirc off, you had to make it happen with a button press when you turned the AC on. This model though it ALWAYS comes on automatically and you got to press the button to turn it off. I think this was intentional to help prevent the drips. Getting a tune I think you can reverse that option.

 

Because I bought my truck in New Mexico (October) and brought it to California I didn’t get plates until May. Then, when I renewed my registration, I found out the vin didn’t match my truck, exactly. It was still all the same specs just not mine. But that was another hassle, everyone got involved, I was at the bank, they called the insurance company, and the insurance company called some magic number to the dmv. It was all resolved all fines, fees and punishments were lifted.

Or sleeping while driving. A couple months ago I sat at a stop sign and watched a college student slowly pass out in her nice BMW SUV while she was coming up behind me and hit my little Mazda3.

Fortunately I still had my hitch on that went through her front bumper. I got out, looked at the damage, looked at her while she was still in the front seat looking like a deer in headlights, waved, and said "Bye!". She looked confused and I told her "You only hurt your car, not mine. Have a good one."
