You and @jjones.yota are complete lard asses! I’m kidding of course because I’m probably a 34 on most days. I managed to stay the same size from 17 to 37 but I’m slipping in my old age.

I looked at that thing a couple years ago but decided it was too small to survive long and likely wouldn't leave enough room for cables with a short stem. I was liking the Salsa EXP carrier instead with better capacity, burlier design and longer arms. https://www.salsacycles.com/gear/exp_series_anything_cradle_35mm I went with the Revelate Pronghorn instead which a few friends were using with good results. Its spacers provide an inch of room for cables which is marginally enough. Very quick/easy to get the dry bag on/off with their harness. Solid setup.

For people getting into bikepacking I usually echo levie...start off with whatever gear you already have for a few short overnight trips before spending $$. You can strap a compression/dry bag to your bars and smaller one to your seat post. This assumes you have fairly compact/lightweight backpacking gear though. I'd never recommend taking a 4-person tent unless you have 3 other friends to split the load with lol. Cowboy camping is great if your area doesn't have frequent storms, heavy dew or biting insects. I do that a lot here in the southwest. Sleep system is the first place I'd invest in. Reasonable weight bag and sleeping pad can be had for $100 or less each. For now you could make a tarp shelter out of a tyvek sheet and some para cord. Or just a cheap tarp haha, you can fold it to form the ground sheet and your shelter. A discarded lumber wrapper from a building supply store is great for this too, basically a more heavy duty tyvek. I sometimes bring this SOL emergency bivy on trips, very light option for when you might have to deal with heavy dew or small % precip in the forecast. https://www.amazon.com/L-Survive-Ou...t=&hvlocphy=9061221&hvtargid=pla-420488651426

Great resource for sure. I find a lot of their routes are too dirt road focused though. The whole point of bikepacking for me is to link together a bunch of cool trails into one route. Another good resource is Bikepacking.net. Its an older site with lots of good info and a forum. It has a whole page of bikepacking races, more of which include awesome singletrack: http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/ultra-racing/2016-ultra-racing-calendar-(sticky-thread)/ No need to race, you can do these routes anytime. There are a few great routes there that aren't on BP.com, couple examples:

Utah - Bristlecone 200 (fka Dixie 200) is an awesome route from Brian Head to Thunder Mtn and back http://2-epic.com/the-bristlecone-200/. My trip report - http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/bikepacking/tr-dixie-200-revisited-(2019)/.
Socal - Tour de los Padres is an excellent loop from Santa Barbara https://tourdelospadres.weebly.com/. Trip report - http://www.bikepacking.net/forum/bikepacking/bikepack-tr-tour-de-los-padres/

Haha! I haven’t been a 33 since I was probably 15. I have to buy 36’s, sometimes 38’s, just to get them over my thighs. Then the waist is too big. I picked up a pair of TLD Skywire pants for the colder days and had to go with a 38. Waist is gigantic, but any smaller they fit like spandex.

i saw last night and yes everything medium was already out if they even has any mediums to begin with. I’m currently around 33, but 32 will fit correctly very quick when I start back riding.

How do the large fit on 33?

Their sizing is accurate. I think a 33 would fit you perfect. The comparable feeling would be the equivalent of yoga pants for women, at least in the waist.

On an unrelated note, does your new bike have the X2 on the rear?

First ride in a while. I was surprised I can pedal with a torn meniscus. Also took the puppers along for his first big ride. He was stoked.

Good luck with the torn meniscus.
I've had three, all requiring surgery.
The last one was a big lateral tear that got stuck up under my patella. My doc was all, I can't believe you walked in here. I was like dude, I ran three miles in pain two days ago.
It was soo much better after that surgery.

I’m into collecting and building vintage BMX 26” cruisers. These are all from around 79-82. All original finishes and parts expect things like tires and grips…

Nice! I feel your pain. I’ve been overdue for a knee ‘clean-up’ for many years. Full ACL/MCL/medial meniscus job back in 2005. To say there is scar tissue floating around and residual effects would be an understatement.

I had an 83. Can’t begin to tell you the amount of regret I have for not taking care of and hanging on to it.

I went off the chart from their set up guide. Running 235 lbs cause I’m a lardass :rofl:and am running the settings for 240.
Seemed fine on the inaugural run.
B132EF4A-F349-48ED-B614-622EA75F60B8.jpgActually been contemplating picking up a DH fork for it since it’s compatible. Running that at the park and the single crown on trail rides.

Sweet. I actually bought the Chase first but a screw up with the dealer led them to making me a smoking deal on the Pursue to make things right. Long/frustrating story but ended well.

I crawl under to check the hitch each time I use it and so far so good. Would definitely feel better if it were more reinforced but knock on wood it’s been solid after many miles.

33 ain't fat my man... During my first divorce, I went up to 160lbs and 34in and I'm only 5'8". Riding again got me back to 145lbs 30.5in.

Thanks. It's my second on the same knee. Had a lateral tear 10 years ago, now a medial. Both from snowboarding. Truth is, I send it on my board way harder than my bike. Sofer landing (most of the time) and all. Shit's bound to happen.
Luckily, my MRI came back and all my ligaments are in good shape, and I actually have cartilage. I was really surprised to say the least. I was suspecting an ACL with the meniscus, and was really dreading the arthritis diagnosis. I already have degenerative disk disease in my thoracic and lumbar area.

Dude, just get it done. Getting back to mostly normal is priceless.

At some point you're just doing shit to say you did, not cause it's fun. Fuck that noise. It's like that stupid-ass move dropping into Portal. It's not hard, but the consequences are...death. So, yeah, I walk it.
