E85 octane is 104+ (depending who you ask) if using a full tank with no pump gas. When mixed with gas, the octane rating decreases.

Does gas with ethanol burn faster?

Ethanol contains about one-third less energy than gasoline. So, vehicles will typically go 3% to 4% fewer miles per gallon on E10 and 4% to 5% fewer on E15 than on 100% gasoline…. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/ethanol.shtml

Yes, because E requires more flow since it burns a lot quicker. On average it's about a 30% increase in flow over pump gas. The more E you use the worse your mpg's. On the plus side, you get to run a lot more timing, so with a tune you would make a lot more power over pump gas.

I picked up about two tenths in my BBC drag car with the switch to ethanol. E85 is the best race gas ever

Yes it does down to about 100. Race stuff 100% Ethanol, how ever it has to be over fueled because the heat energy factor is just not there. Now news flash the majority of high test pump gas contains ethanol True a couple don't. Bottom line it's a waste of money in some thing like a Tacoma.

For what it’s worth, and completely out on a tangent, the octane rating of ethanol/e85 doesn’t quite correlate to the same detonation resistance of gasoline. I run 14.9:1 compression on e85 (for probably 1000 passes on this motor), but wouldn’t dare run less than 112-114 octane gasoline in it.
